Why would they launch the lombartech site weeks before the launch of the ARG, who would they do that do us!? Shocked *twitch*

...Anyway... Does anyone know what Lombartech means? I'll look in to it now.

Well, it's not exactly like you say.
Still Life, the adventure game, will be in stores in April (initially announced for release on the 14th, it's now officially announced as "out in April").
The ARG, which is intended by Microids to be a sort of "introduction" to the Still Life plot&charachters, is in no way related to the Still Life release date. In fact, Microids declared that "Lombartech" (or whatever will we decide to call this ARG) is officially up and running since the 1st of February.
So, in conclusion, we're already in full activity. If we're not making any progress, that's probably our fault. We have found quite a few things already, but we haven't made much of them.

M.

The Feb. 1st date was stated to be in error. It's coming soon. Smile

Like Syzygy or Orbital Colony? Or the location of the money in Sable & Shuck? Twisted Evil

Funny enough, I actually found a mention of Lombartech from January 11th in a Yahoo cached search of an LJ page. For some reason, it no longer appears on the actual LJ page. So has the site been up for that long, or does someone have more info that he can no longer share with the rest of us?

Here's the connections I can figure out. The FBI is testing (and/or using, not sure) some products from Lombartech. Lombartech is planning to provide their services to art, reciprocally:
_they are hiring people to make their security devices look more like art.
_they are developing special software for Labrynth, an art company, to innovatively protect their artwork.

The detective's father was an artist (after he went crazy, I believe... if my intuition is correct, the first killer made him mad, and he became the second killer...) I'm almost positive his artwork is being protected by Lombartech.

All this is important because, lets face it, the name is Still Life. You think it has *something* to do with art?

There are two kinds of glitches on the Lombartech site:
_spelling errors, apparently at random
_odd messages (the flashing period, the "help", etc.)

Assuming that the spelling errors are indeed errors, we must ask ourselves whether the messages are simply to alert us to the fact that this site is part of a game, or its a hack from someone who *is* seeking help.

Just gettin it all down, here, maybe spark some thinking

I've been trawlling through that LJ, and I gather he must be some game-inclined resident of Montreal. Maybe he has some professional connection to Microids, heard about the Lombartech thing internally, and got itchy to comment on it. Then I guess he took it down.

I'm dissecting it, piece by piece, but you know how these online journals are. It's like a sewer system for the human mind.

Edit: Is it ACTUALLY deleted, or is it just not showing up because it's a LJ post reserved only for those on the Friends list? Oh it's still there ... it's just protected, Mister Saladfingers.

Edit: I don't think the LJ is in play. The Author, one Taras Stasiuk, traceable Renaissance man of Montreal, doesn't draw on any connection to our game. What may have happened is he simply found the site by coincidence and commented on it. He seems like a pretty vocal liberal, and I suppose if he thought Lombartech was real ... unless one of us becomes a close friend in his LJ circle, we may never know.

Yeah... gotta love those journals!

As obvious as it is now, I hadn't actually made the link between the name Still Life and the fact that Lombartech are protecting art. I was wondering where the site was going or pointing to...

Has anyone had any luck with steganography? I certainly haven't.

I've been trying to get Stegdetect but I can't get it working. Anyplace I can go for help with this?

Also, did you try to use a dictionary crack or something?

S in morse code is three dots, so maybe you just missed the first one.

Check page 3 of this post if you're curious about the morse code!

Actually, i'l just give you the quote from the dude who solved it:

Guizzy wrote:
In the "latest threats" page: http://www.lombartech.com/Latest_Threats.aspx

Look at the last period, just after "neutralizing it"; it flashes in an irregular pattern.

Now this might have been some simple xhtml or javascript effect, but according to the sources, it's made in Flash. Now it'd have been surprising for the web designer to do such a simple thing in Flash if the pattern wasn't significant.

If you take the portion of the address of that flash file in the sources and paste it into the URL, you get a much larger version.
http://www.lombartech.com/W1qjh894ehgb.swf

Edit:
I've transcribed this:
.. .. .-.. . -. -.-. . .. ... --. --- .-.. -.. . -. .- -. -.. .--. .- - .. . -. -.-. . .. ... .- ...- .. .-. - ..- .

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It translated to: SILENCE IS GOLDEN AND PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE

More info?

Hey everyone, I was looking at the game screenshots on http://www.stilllife-game.com/gallery.aspx and the pictures they have listed are numbered 13-18, 2, 3, 6, and 11. However, if you change the numbers in the web addy, http://www.stilllife-game.com/media/screenshots/full/StillLife_13_full.jpg where you replace 13 with other numbers, there are pictures for 1-18. There are not any more for the cinematic still shots, to my knowledge.
I'm gonna see if there is anything searchable in there, I know there are some names, etc. Worth a look.

Proverbs

Good stuff. That's exactly something worth checking out.

I was looking at Image 14 and thinking about what was said earlier about proverbs. Notice the Roman Numerals in the painting? I VI V IV

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Keeping with the proverbs theme, I wondered if they might refer to something specific from the Book of Proverbs:

1:6 reads "He shall understand a parable and the interpretation, the words of the wise, and their mysterious sayings."

5:4 reads "But her end* is bitter as wormwood, and sharp as a two-edged sword."
*referring to a warning about a "decietful woman", not some woman's butt

I'm grasping at straws, but couldn't help but feel like it fell into the theme of the clues so far. And if that doesn't work out:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I VI V IV makes a great pattern of alternating I's and V's - IVIVIV - freaky.

Depending on whether you consider an I to be a dash or a dot, if it were Morse Code it would work out to "TAEN" or "ENTA" ... oooh ... yeah, I've gone nuts.
