Lady J,
I thought that too but this page struck me as particularly relevant. The type of theatre that Maurice Conchis describes might as well be neurocam... perhaps it's coincidence.

I don't know... Even if this wasn't it's intention... I'm sorry i can't think think straight it's very late over here. I'll post something comprehensible tomorrow. Rolling Eyes

I was thinking about the propagation and all this, and I had a rather humerous thought.
The people that give us missions, have missions of their own - handing out missions.
In turn, their bosses would be entry-level ops such as ourselves, thus completing a hilarious Ourorboros that never ends.
HA! hahahah....er.
Too much chocolate today, sorries.

I think that's what we're meant to think.

Something like that, yeah.

it could just be an elaborate distraction from the true purpose of neurocam... after all... it does say in the acceptance email "recruits are frequently called upon to undertake both diversionary and directly productive assignments".

Yeah i'm sure it's just a story... Never the less, that's how the story goes.
A great big hierarchy...

I think I can easily classify every assignment I've ever received as diversionary Smile

Oh well, we wait and see.

I just got a really weird mission:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Dear Operative

Here are the details of your Neurocam Assignment.

NEUROCAM ASSIGNMENT NCI - 8063/01

(A) CONTEXT

"There is another city all around us, he told me. We can't see it, but
there are ways into it. There is no way back. Anyone who boards a
certain ferry or walks down a certain street or enters a certain
building or goes through a certain door disappears forever into that
other city."

Michael Dibdin (writing about Venice), "Ratking", Faber Books

(B) EXECUTION

Your assignment is this: Find an entrance to that other city. Don't
waste yours or our time with accounts of your favorite bookstore, or
the cafe where you buy the best latte. It must be a genuine portal to
that other city.

Photograph the entrance. Write the address, followed by 250 - 500 words
describing what might be found if one were to pass through the
entrance. Submit this in the form of a report to
operationsSPLATneurocam.com.

(C) OPERATIONAL SECURITY

Neurocam International is aware that many operatives publicly discuss
and relate their Neurocam experiences via online forums and web
journals. Operatives are permitted to continue this practice, but are
strictly forbidden from revealing the exact details of this assignment
until after its completion date. Any operative found doing so will
suffer immediate expulsion from Neurocam.

Operatives are, however, permitted to reveal that they have received a
new assignment. In addition, operatives may also reveal that their
assignment has "something to do with entrances". If you have any doubts
about what is allowed under this clause, please contact the Operations
Division before publication.

(D) TIMELINE

The time restrictions of Neurocam's ongoing operations dictate that
Neurocam Assignment NCI - 8063/01 must be completed by Thursday March
03, 2005.

Regards,

Charles Hastings
Head, Operations Division
Neurocam International

Dude, even with the spoiler box, I would seriously edit that post so you're not explaining the mission. The Cam are *seriously* cracking down on people doing this, they even tell you straight out in the briefing that you aren't supposed to give away the details.

That seems an odd mindset to have. If you don't care about Neurocam any more, why are you still playing it? Aren't you enjoying it?

I don't want to comment on you're mission too much but it seems that neurocam are as literate as I am! Ratking is part of the Aurelio Zen series... You might want to read it if you're curious.

It's about murder and deception... Razz

I hope this isn't a repeat question. I just read about Neurocam today and applied to join. Are they still seeking new applicants? Has anyone signed up in the past few days and received a response?

I too got an assignment that had something to do with entrances. I understand it pretty well and I think I have a good idea for what to do to complete it but I won't reveal more.
