Email Iris' Account of Yesterday, Shaking to the core

I hope you will all forgive me if I do not bother with pleasantries and send this to everyone on my email list but something happened yesterday that has shattered my image of the realities I held dear. I now realize how much I do not know and I understand that what I can see with the organs I call my eyes is but a sliver of what is there and is, perhaps, not even what is the true reality. What if we live in a strange metaphysical version of the Matrix?
What if there are beings out there to protect us and those out there to kill us and they are at war every day, always around us and we never know it?
I am sorry if this frightens you but here it is: Everything you have told me is true, it is all true. The dead eye guys, the numbered ones, the guides, everything is true. They exist. The Ashram existed.

I had a vision while we were out there, in fact that is all I really remember of the day, this vision that is etched into my mind so that even when I sleep I revisit that awful place.

We had just entered the area and I was looking around, thinking how desolate a place they choose when suddenly the clearing changed. I assumed this was how it looked years ago, when the Ashram was busy and vital and I found myself standing in front of an oddly triangular, almost pyramid shaped building. There were two yellowish-brown signs or flags in front; one of the signs seemed to be written in a strange language I could not read, the other had a large symbol in the center of it. The symbol was like a castle, with at least one obvious tower sticking up, which felt old and somehow regal, like the sort of building you would find on a moor in Scotland or some other far away place. There were people moving about the Ashram center area but they seemed not to see or notice me. They were mostly men with very few children or women around. I noticed that I was alone; Wes and Phyllis were not there with me and that gave me an odd chill. As I watched, some of the men appeared to be discussing things between themselves, carrying books and writing pads and the like. Others seemed to have more definite purpose and moved somewhat quicker, without talking to many other people. Suddenly, I noticed that several of these men seemed to favor one hand or another, and one of them standing close to me actually had six fingers on one of his hands. I took a step back and noticed a small dark-haired girl standing across the open area and staring at me. As I watched the young girl, she raised one arm, pointed and said "Look! Who are they? Who are they?" I thought she meant me, but then Phyllis cried out, "Look! Who are they? Who are they?"

I was pulled suddenly from my trance with a whoosh, a most unpleasant feeling that is like being sent down a roller coaster and having it hit a wall at full speed. I could still see the people of the Ashram and the girl but suddenly there were these other people and Wes and Phyllis were back too. The new people were standing in a group near the forest and were dressed in matching robes of some sort. Phyllis and Wes were behind me and I dimly remember them calling my name and telling me it was time to leave, but all I could think was to stay. I know that Wes and Phyllis were talking and there was something else happening, but I just could not stop watching the men by the trees and the Ashram folk who continued on with their daily business. I took a step or two forward as the conflicting images of men moving around in front of clean and well kept buildings warred with the knowledge that the run down and desolate buildings before me were the reality I had arrived from. I remember trying to get closer to the men before I heard Wes say something about seven, the second ring and stopped. Again Wes said we had to leave and I remember his hand on my wrist, but then Phyllis screamed. The girl and one from the group stepped forward, both saying "Father…" at the same time. Wes walked toward the one who had moved forward and spoke, but I do not really remember what was said, as I was too entranced with everything that was going on within my own head. Wes grabbed a hold of me and would not let me go, though I could feel myself straining against him, trying to go toward the strange men near the trees. There was something about them that drew me. I am not sure if they were in one reality or two, but then again I am not sure if I was in one reality or two.

Suddenly I could hear the one who had stepped forward as if he were speaking in my head. He said, "You see things you should not. It is a curse for which you have not yet paid, but you will. And soon."

I do not know how we got back to town. I do not remember getting back to the B&B. All I know is that I woke here, fully clothed and ravenously hungry.

I have not told anyone else about this yet. My whole body is shaking and I feel as if every molecule in my body was trying to break apart or maybe I just ache, I don't know anymore. I cannot focus and I cannot think. My world is crashing in and I am afraid that I will be caught in the cave in, buried alive where no one can find me. No one can help me. My very soul is at stake here and I fear the only one who can save me is me, and I do not even trust myself to drive at the moment. What do I do now? I have to think. I have to go
start work.

Iris
