[PUZZLE SOLUTION (?)] qip qio qir qip qio

I haven't been able to find a solution to this one, only a note that it's still unsolved... so go easy on the newb if I'm totally wrong ^_^;

For a refresher the puzzle in question can be found
here.

The title of the page is:
qip qio qir qip qio

And hidden in the content you can find:
qwertyuiop

The answer is:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
ONION

And how I got there:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I tried running "qip qio qir qip qio" through ROT encoding and got nothing. I tried the morse Q-codes and found them unassigned. I tried the morse Z-codes that they turned into... one was unassigned. So I went back to the drawing board.

All those tests didn't explain why "qwertyuiop" was hidden on the page. "qwertyuiop" obviously wasn't a code, but I had noticed that all the letters in the code were in the top row of the keyboard. There are 10 characters in the top row, so, if:

q=0

then:

079 078 073 079 078

and from there just enter the ASCII and you'll have the answer.

As far as what it means? no idea.

Wow! I had totally forgotten about that. It seems ages ago (I think it was actually found before I started).

As for what it means, onion is a valid keyword and takes you to the 4.htm page (of which lovecraft was another keyword). It probably was just a hint to get us started on keywords.

But this is why we need new ppl playing - to find all the stuff we've missed or glossed over!
