The ad with the actual message links to www.perplexity.com, while the Trout links to www.perplexcity.com.

Now, why would the Sun make a typo like that when printing ads right next to each other of the same nature? Also, remember the email we sent to that classifieds editor of the NYSun yesterday, he distinctly said that the PERPLEXITY ad would be running today, not Perplex City.

Because the editors of newspapers are obviously incapable of doing their jobs properly. Their minds only read 'perplexity', because 'perplexity' is a real-world word, whereas 'perplexcity' is a fantasy word.

When Jim emailed me back he made the same typo there. Didnt think anything of it just assumed it was a typo so maybe he wrote the add whilst someone dictated it over the phone to him or theres a point in there being the typo....[/quote]

Why, then, did they do their job right on the previous ad, entirely adjacent to this one?

Advert in the times (23rd Feb)

Couldn't see it anywhere else, so this is it:

'LOST/FOUND

LOST The Cube. Reward offered. confirmed the thieves reprogrammed portions of the Academy's security systems, disabling three different

www.perplexcity.com'

Three different...what?! the sentence ends there in the ad!

Wondering if the website now has three extra sections?

EDIT - ignore me, my cache hadn't updated...

[Edit - merged with existing newspaper ad thread - Fi]

Since I too went to the effort, I may as well show this:

Notice the ads around it... it's probably just me, but is the one above worded funny?

Now.. we have to wait for the next paper I guess

Sente I guess, is attracting more people to the ARG whilst keeping us informed...

Like the way this is turning out, can't wait for the next ad.

On the errorlog thing, after the London Times ad I went back and scoured the errorlogs. There are only two instances of Gatehouse logs while there are 'three different...' I do think Sarah had some kind of hand in the cube becoming missing though.

In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if Sarah was with us on 'our world' right now. She may even be the one recording the bright lights of Japan.

Mmh, yummy spec.

Edit: More Spec for maxim's question...

Maybe (as it's been said before methinks) they need the cube to travel between our two realities. They know where it is, (possibly because of some kind of radiation from it) but can't get to it because, ironically or coincidentally, it's stuck here with us.

Second possibility. Sente isn't even talking about the cube when he says he can trace it.

Something doesn't add up... if they are "Able to trace it without any difficulty"... why are we here?

I think we should start saving our money up because where blanks are in the video we may have to scour every paper to find more adverts and text....how many major papers are there in the world? Rolling Eyes

Nah, we won't have to buy the papers...

Although, there will be an influx of e-mails to major paper companies from strange people asking about some kind of missing 'cube'.

Newbie, please be gentle

I've searched the forums but haven't found any reference to the following which I found through a whois query:

http://www.perplexcity.com/robots.txt

which contains:

# go away
User-agent: *
Disallow: /

Maybe this is a standard thing in a whois query, I don't know.

I also tried to go to www.perplexity.com and something strange happened:
Early in the morning I got redirected to a search engine but when I tired again later I got a "HTTP 500 Internal server error". I also found out that perplexity.com is registered by GoDaddy.com.

re: http://www.perplexcity.com/robots.txt

yep, that's a standard thing. it just tells search engines, etc, not to index the site.
