[S1] The End! Thank you for playing soogees! I hope you enjoyed solving the puzzles as much as I enjoyed making them.
The fact is, I created soogees because *I* had nothing better to do. I figured since I had a few puzzle ideas scribbled around, I might as well put them to good use and torture some poor souls
I really had fun with this! Who knows, maybe we'll have more soogees in the future!
If you have any questions I'll be more than happy to answer them.
Thanks again! You all did a great job.

Let the Q&A begin!
Question for Ehsan: if you only joined chat late in the day, how did you come to realize when puzzles had "problems" which needed to be fixed on the fly?
2nd question: when you had to change the weathermap image, why change the 432 to 422 at that time? why not simply make the 3 disappear instead of a 2 (in the "32" on the map)?
And a random observation: I thought about the 2nd Alice book being Thru the Looking Glass. Would you have been disappointed if we had simply taken the original answer "rabbithole" and mirrored it? (I wish i had thought to try that!)

On rsagirl and goodwork I happened to be reading the forums as they were being solved, so I noticed the problem with rsagirl, which I think was the only major problem which needed a quick fix. For goodwork I added a hint as soon as I saw the post with the decoded binary. So I think rsagirl was the only one that qualifies as "on the fly".
In case of getupstandup I came in a bit late, but noticed the problem from all the forum posts (More on that follows)

I wanted to create a different path for the new solve vs the original solve. I believe that the original weather image is reproducable if you find a weather database with text data, and then reconstruct the gif image using some tools. But I wanted people to go on with the trail. So 422 would continue the trail, and 432 would contain some sort of reward for solving a really hard puzzle.[/quote]
I was just about to rename 432 to 422 and create a new 432, when it was discovered! I never thought anyone would get it. Once that happened there was no point in creating a different path.

Well, dissapointed, yes, but not surprised. I'm even a little dissapointed that it was solved with a hint, but I had decided on a generous hinting policy and wanted to follow it through.
At the end of the day, the trail could've been a little harder and took a lot more time, if the little hints weren't there (remove all page titles and wrong answer pages) But I wanted to get a good balance so that sogees is challenging and fun at the same time.

Well, by all rights, Jerms cracked it first using brute force

[14:14] <SuperJerms> I just let subcracker run on the 10 px glyphs for eight hours.
We just didn't line it up correctly
Thanks for the nudge, I'm pretty sure these people would have cracked it eventually though. They is some smart folks
Also, to reiterate Space's comments, I like the "almost there" type of clues.
Similar to "The Stone", but more informative.

Technically speaking, I was only brute forcing them as 10 px glyphs. I actually didn't run that on the ABCCDEFGHI, since I noticed that "rabbithole" works as a substitution cipher (and catherwood realized "jabberwock" works, too). I just figured that it was from the bottom up...didn't even think to try it backwards. D'oh!
Good job on a fun game, Ehsan!

I just wanted to chime in with a "great job, Ehsan!" Heh, I was trying to convince people yesterday that you weren't behind all of this I hope you make another one soon, and I hope that I'll notice it soon enough to play from the beginning.

Yes, great job Ehsan! You rock!
The puzzles were challenging and fun!
I especially liked the predictive use of hint pages that told us whether we were on the right track or not. So much nicer than the standard 404 error page!
Thanks!

Thanks for all the support guys. I'm thinking about making soogees a permanent trail site.. so we can have more soogees trails once every month or two.. with everyone submitting their puzzles.. or just providing space for people with their own trails... thoughts?

Well I definitely want to see more. I've been meaning to ask too, what does "soogees" mean exactly?

It really doesn't mean anything at all! Do you know how hard it is to find a domain name that means something, but isn't taken?
