Also...how about a "How to talk to Syn and what to expect when talking to Syn" topic. We're growing quickly and large number of the new folks don't know or don't understand the "No-No's", the "Yay!'s", and the "Quacks!"

I'm not sure if having a specific spokesperson would really work - it seems to put a lot of pressure on one individual to ask the right question - but maybe we could just agree on one or two goals for a chat, like things we want to discover or to tell Syn about. Then, whenever there's a natural opening in the convo (because Syn mostly leads it anyway), anyone could try to steer it in the direction we want. Seems more subtle. I'm not sure how well either of these approaches would work on a practical level - lots of stuff just sounds good in theory. Maybe we could try something, see if it works in one chat, then decide if we want to keep doing that. Yay for adaptation?

/that would work better than having a singele spokesman on the cht. after all, Syn is a chatty child, and if everyone else went silent, she would want to know why.

subtly going for goals is a good way to go, the trick is to avoid the censorship filter....

Never heard of sensory deprivation therapy before, but it sounds really, really interesting...

Imagine being denied your senses of sight sound and feeling. You are blindfolded so that not even the slightest bit of light enters your eyes. You are subjected to a continual tone pitch in your ears that deny you of any other sound and you are suspended in fluid and not allowed to touch anything besides the liquid. Third stage sensory deprivation. It will make you mad in a matter of hours if not minutes.

Trust me...

Urgh... *twitches* I'd rather not, thanks. But... I already have.

Sensory Deprivation tanks are now commonly being used by magicians to hone their 'psychic' abilities. Very interesting stuff.

On IRC tonight several of us talked through ideas for a course of action with Syn at the next chat. Among the top contenders were :

    Riddles
    Music Files
Poetry (Anyone want to write her a song....that includes some of our questions?)
    Limericks
    Haikus
    Simple Rhymes

Personally I like the idea of simple rhymes, it's quick, appealing to children, and can help us build up to Jokes, Riddles, Poetry, ect...

I vote for rhyming games to. I also would like to add the topic of secret messages... perhaps just a simple number = letter code. It's easy and one of the first type of codes that a child would likely learn. It would allow her to communicate in a simple code and possibly by pass the filters.

What do you think?

Awsome!

Hey, I'd love to write a song, or a poem, or whatever. And I love riddles, giving her some classic riddles is a great idea. Smile
For now,

that wouldnt be a bad idea, but since she's so clever (binary speech) you could even teach her rot Smile
i think a direct link to a site explaining it would be enough for her to learn to encode her messages to us. but i like the number=letter code too.
