Got it. The password is...

Edited out of this post.

Couple emails in there...

Two duplicate emails from two different people... (Except one of them knows how to capitalize Very Happy)

Then there's h4ck3r's reply to her email... Then, in her Sent folder are two new emails (which also are in her inbox... Because the email addresses do not exist) and the one she sent to h4ck3r.

Damnit, he says he's quitting...this isn't good. Without that key, I can't crack into the project ashcroft database. I need that key! I'm also worried about Alyson. She is too happy. What is she up to? I will have to figure it out in the morning. Those damn government types are being a major pain in my ass.

I'm really liking this game. It's so fun reading the characters' emails! Laughing

EDIT: Just a quick edit, because I really don't want to triple post (I swear!), but APAS.com is password protected and was... uh... registered 10 years ago... Am I just being stupid and this is something really obvious?

I just talked with the IT guy...

I closed the window before I could save the convo, but he said that the password thing was the automated system and that the only way to get into Project Ashcroft's database was with the password.

EDIT: Um... He logged back on, but it was just the automated thing...
I think I may have broken it.

projectashcroft2: Sorry, incorrect password. Please try again.
RascalRwr716: look, I don't have time for this password nonsense
RascalRwr716: I don't want to access anything. I want to talk
RascalRwr716: gold is power
RascalRwr716: no ?
projectashcroft2: Sorry, incorrect password. Please try aga-OMG will you people stop!
RascalRwr716: why?
projectashcroft2: What is your problem?!?You CAN'T GET INTO PROJECT ASHCROFT!
RascalRwr716: I don't want to
RascalRwr716: I want to talk to you
projectashcroft2: Then talk
RascalRwr716: sure. who are you?
projectashcroft2: I just work here.
RascalRwr716: I assume, of course, any sensitive info is protected beyond the password. Lets be frank. Who are you?
projectashcroft2: Look, I know that one of you got an error message, yeah? Do not try to contact 159 again.
RascalRwr716: and what are you doing on AIM
RascalRwr716: ok, no problem
projectashcroft2: AIM is the securest info protector for what they're doing.
projectashcroft2: No one can get in through any message, and you can't get in through AIM without the password.
projectashcroft2: Or any other way of hacking
RascalRwr716: *gag* america online? secure?
RascalRwr716: ok, fair enough
RascalRwr716: maybe I don't want in to PA
RascalRwr716: maybe, maybe, I just want to know why someone would hurt a child
projectashcroft2: You aren't actually contacting the database through AIM. You contact the automated bot. He contacts the database, and give people the info.
projectashcroft2: I don't know, don't ask me. I just fix the computers. You wanna talk to my boss? I'll get you an appointment.
RascalRwr716: Really?
projectashcroft2: No.
RascalRwr716: I want to talk to you as well, though
projectashcroft2: Why me?
RascalRwr716: Because, you're here
projectashcroft2: I don't have anything to do with it.
RascalRwr716: so?
RascalRwr716: you're a human. You have an opinion, no?
projectashcroft2: I can't affect anybody in this op. Furthermore, it's none business.
RascalRwr716: "of my"?
RascalRwr716: I'm not asking you to affect anyone, am I?
projectashcroft2: My opinion? I'm making $500,000 a year. That's my opinion. And yes, none of your business.
RascalRwr716: steep for a TI guy. Guess that bought your morals too!
projectashcroft2: Yep.
RascalRwr716: no, don't get me wrong, I understand
projectashcroft2: Although, some of the things I'm hearing that they did...
RascalRwr716: yes?
projectashcroft2: It's just, I mean, I'm not a big fan of genetic engineering...and the failure rate....
RascalRwr716: well, the failure rate should be around high 90 percent
RascalRwr716: at least. Thats expected, even if you bring yourself to work on human clones
RascalRwr716: but to then hurt them as children?
projectashcroft2: out of the remaining children...never mind. You're messing with me....
RascalRwr716: messing?
projectashcroft2: I know your game.
RascalRwr716: No, that is seriously expected
projectashcroft2: You're trying to get me to turn on my boss.
RascalRwr716: I don't need you to
RascalRwr716: whats the point of that?
projectashcroft2: Then what do you want?
RascalRwr716: You're a lowly TI guy
projectashcroft2: Lowly? I manage ever computer in the entire project.
RascalRwr716: You said it yourself. You can't change your bosses
projectashcroft2: Without me, there wouldn't be bosses.
RascalRwr716: Then you are most certainly responsible for everything going on
projectashcroft2: Shut up. That's not right.
RascalRwr716: Really? And where would they be without you?
projectashcroft2: Goddamnit.

This guy may be an alright guy after all. Think simpler...any ideas?

Quote:
hkdl0521: Hello
ProjectAshcroft2: Welcome to Project Ashcroft! Please enter password.
hkdl0521: I will do no such thing, I want to speak to a real person
ProjectAshcroft2: And what do you want?
hkdl0521: To Talk
ProjectAshcroft2: Are you another person trying to hack the system?
ProjectAshcroft2: You want to talk? Okay, talk.
hkdl0521: I don't want to hack your system
hkdl0521: I simply want to know the well being of 159
ProjectAshcroft2: I don't know. Last I heard...why am I telling you this?
hkdl0521: because she is still a little girl, not just some experiment, I know that first hand
ProjectAshcroft2: ...it's not your business, and it's not mine.
hkdl0521: 159 made it my buisiness by contacting me, I am involved, as are you whether we like it or not
ProjectAshcroft2: look, I know that what they're doing is wrong, but if I just tell them I want to leave, they kill me.
hkdl0521: You run the whole network for the place don't you?
ProjectAshcroft2: yes.
hkdl0521: I'm sure you could come up with something to disable them before you go, would at least keep them busy for a bit while you secured a hiding place
ProjectAshcroft2: Maybe...but improbable.
hkdl0521: If you truly think what they are doing is wrong, you owe it to yourself to do something, even if it is just leave
ProjectAshcroft2: ...
ProjectAshcroft2: 159 is in critical condition.
ProjectAshcroft2: the genetic engineering did not go well.
ProjectAshcroft2: she contacted you, didn't she?
hkdl0521: They did more engineering?
hkdl0521: Yes
ProjectAshcroft2: through the automated system?
hkdl0521: automated system? No, I meant she contacted me before...before she was taken
ProjectAshcroft2: I'm not talking about that... I got an internal error report from within the system, sent by her.
hkdl0521: Oh...You mean ERROR 493. SOURCE: 159 MESSAGE RECIEVING 7A7866366E6536657465797800
ProjectAshcroft2: yes.
ProjectAshcroft2: that.
hkdl0521: We havn't figured out what it means yet
ProjectAshcroft2: the hex there...the conversion...think simpler.
ProjectAshcroft2 signed off at 10:17:03 PM.
hkdl0521: I converted it...but I can't make heads or tails

Poke and I started talking about the cipher:
Quote:
miss seph nz: so have you started decoding the message?
PokeKiller2k: I tried
PokeKiller2k: It's not a ROT
PokeKiller2k: lol
PokeKiller2k: Vzfxbvw 159 <-- That has to be "Subject 159", right?
PokeKiller2k: Then it's definitely Vigenere
PokeKiller2k: Because
Nujbltq 28
is definitely Subject 28
miss seph nz: with what key?
PokeKiller2k: Dunno
PokeKiller2k: lol
miss seph nz: Vzfxbvw = subject?
PokeKiller2k: Yup
PokeKiller2k: And Nujbltq
miss seph nz: hmm
miss seph nz: so two keys
PokeKiller2k: Er
PokeKiller2k: Well, it's because they're in two different places
miss seph nz: yeah, they'll still need a different key to equal the same word
PokeKiller2k: Not neccessarily
miss seph nz: MAYBe it's just a substitution?
PokeKiller2k: Just different parts of one key

I had to go, Poke's continuing. GOOD LUCK BRUV!

Okay, I just don't know what to do here... I've tried Vigenere with every key related to Project Ashcroft I could think of, I've tried working backwards, forwards, sideways...

The parts in parenthesis are what I suspect it may say... Maybe this'll help someone else, I dunno...
