Email Phyllis Shadowtalk Called Her

Good Morning, Sunny,

As arranged, Iris and I met Tracie Schmidt and I must tell you she is quite beautiful in person; her manner was very natural and unaffected. I really enjoyed telling my tales and making her laugh.

When I got home I found a note tucked into the door of the shop. In a scrawl, it said, "Sorry we missed you. We wanted to show you something. I don't know if we'll make it back, but we'll try – Jill." Drat! I'll be looking for them today, you may be sure.

There was still no sign that Douglas has been home and the longer he stays away the easier it is for me to feel what it will be like when he is out of life for good – it will be wonderful! I caught up on my emails last night and took care of business: paid bills, balanced the accounts and checkbook. I was actually feeling very merry after having had a couple of glasses of wine during our meeting with Tracie, humming a little tune to myself. Then, the alcohol did its little trick on my blood sugar level and I thought I would just lay my head
down on my arms over my desk for moment and fell fast asleep in a blink.

Next thing I know, the phone is ringing beside my head and it took me a moment or two to figure out what it was. I answered, "Hello," a bit groggily and instead of getting an "Hello" in return a recorded voice said something like "a message for you. Press..." So I fumbled about trying to focus, punched a few buttons, dropped the phone, picked it up again and said "Hello? Hello?" I thought I'd disconnected the caller but then there was a crackling noise and a man's voice said, "Tap, tap." There was a pause before the voice commenced to speak German – something repetitive like "Ich bin" something then "Ich bin" something else. I couldn't understand because it was muffled and mumbled. Then, the caller hung up. I used the Caller ID feature but was told it was a "Private
Caller."

I can't say why but this really upset me. I tried calling Iris but she didn't
answer. So I decided to have another glass of wine to calm down and went off to
bed.

Love,
Phyllis

Which, if translated correctly, means "I am a jelly donut"
