Just because no one has outright stated it yet, I will do so.
Omnium = All People or Everything
Finis = The End or Boundary (present, active tense)
Imminet = Threat or to Threaten (present, active tense)
So roughly, this states "There is a threat to end everything", almost like a warning...
(Even if not an ARG, it's cool! More mindgames, Corporate America!)

Here's the Dayton one. I think this relates to the Millennium television series - the circle looks like the ouroboros.
To me it looks more like a Knights Templar kind of symbol, an ouroboros or circle with a sword through it.
PS I've been watching the Sci-Fi channel all day just to see this commercial......so far no luck. For those that have seen it, does it usually play at certain times?

To expand on the watching of Sci-Fi or NBC to catch the ad, perhaps it only played on Feb 28th?
I watched Sci-Fi and NBC all night last night just to see the thing... sat through most of 'Clan of the Cave Bear'... *shudder* For NOTHING. If it was only a one day ad... that might mean a non-War of the Worlds related thing as the big ole' execs and names behind WotW would have the money to run the ad 24 hours on NBC if they wanted to.

I think the translation would be more like "The end is nigh", as in "The end of the world is at hand".

I just saw it tonight (was on during West Wing). Advanced it frame-by-frame on the Tivo, but didn't see anything all that interesting.
It does have my curiosity piqued tho.

On again after Law & Order. My wife sighed as I showed interest at the mysterious message, knowing me all too well.

Omnium pictures Okay, saw this on L&O tonight (3/2) and later on the USA network just a few minutes ago. Checked that site with the graffiti, and I'm positive you unfiction folk thought as I did the watch was out of place.
IF this is an ARG, the watch may be the puzzle. 10:08, Thurs. 20. The only month with a Thursday on the 20th is October. Could October 20th have some importance? Is the world going to end at 10:08 (AM/PM?) that day?
Or could it be the numbers 10:08 Thurs 20 (October?)

If this is a movie... release in the UK before the US
Some people are taking it way too seriously and thinking the world is gonna end Millenium Bug anyone?

I'm beginning to wonder how many of these, now being written in chalk in the most unlikely of places, aren't just copycats looking for attention?
Beerium Finis Imminet, anyone? The end of beer is threatened... that's enough to cause world panic!

I found a mention of this on adtunes.com and this link:

Some of the comments I've read think this is a promotion for an upcoming short series on NBC called "Revelations".

New information says that it may be linked with the upcoming NBC mini-series "Revelations". The show is apparently about

I sure hope this isn't it. Either way, Revelations is premiering April 13, so we won't really have to wait too long to find out.

Changing my theory yet again. NY Times said in an article today...
NY Times wrote:
The advertisements portray a flock of birds against an angry red sky, with a single phrase: Omnium Finis Imminet, Latin for The End of All Things Is Near. The advertisements, for Steven Spielberg's movie version of H. G. Wells's "War of the Worlds," cost about $50,000.
Mystery solved I guess... unless they got it wrong.
So this is a Spielberg thing... I'd be expecting more then, especially for War of the Worlds. Stay tuned I suppose.
Edit: Then again, the subway adverts and the TV spots could be for completely different things... in which case both ideas are correct.
*sigh* Memo to big name company execs: Please refrain from using spooky latin phrases without inquiering as to whether some other big name company exec is using the same spooky latin phrase. Thank you.

A big, 1 page ad in discover magazine, says that Omnium Finis Imminet is for the crappy TV show, not war of the worlds.
Bill Pullman and Natascha McElhone
