Well, Silrn and I are having a LAN party tonight, so hopefully we'll be on, along with Tom and Chappy... so everyone else should get on!

I dunno, usually we're pretty good, we just had a lot of bad runs last night.

Mostly because I miss Nova, and I don't want to miss Silrn and INCyr as well!

Aww, isn't that sweet?

Well, it's a combination of things. The DSL at my new place seems to suck, leaving me lagging in the red more often than not which has kinda put a damper on things. That and these days all people seem to do is play mess-around kind of games that aren't much fun as they used to be. That and I've been way busier at work lately and haven't had as much time for anything for myself. I haven't been sucked away by WoW as much as you may think. Very Happy

However the freeze tag was pretty cool, and the big team battle I did at the end of the night was great fun.

I get lots of practice, just not proper practice...

For a given map and game, we need a plan. The plan may change, but we should have some expectation about what we're doing together.

We need to communicate more. We're pretty good about saying where enemy threats are, but we're not so good about saying where the threats are not (i.e., they are not attacking from the left or middle --must be the right). Other than 'D', we're also not good about naming and announcing our own locations.

We need a leader. Since we're not always a consistent group, we need a set of people willing to be leaders. If nothing else, the sniper is a good candidate, becase the sniper can see so much of the map, anyway.

We're pretty good about calling weapons or vehicles and sticking to it.

We're not so good about grouping on attack. We're really not good about regrouping after respawning. Instead, we tend to rush across the map to rejoin the fight.

We're reluctant to push our defensive line out away from the base. We let the enemy get too close before the defense engages.

We're not so good about locking down the enemy base before we plant the bomb or grab the flag. On defense, we're reluctant to lock down the offense's spawn point (also known as spawn camping).

We're fairly good at locking down or reclaiming scarce resources like vehicles, sniper rifles, and rockets.

I've been reading the Unofficial Halo 2 Strategy Guide. Can't you tell?

Communication is key to victory in Halo 2...it's a very team oriented game compared to the first one. My buddies and i have the same problem, except we have a leader-just that half the team doesn't even seem to pay attention.

Well there are a chunk of us that are very team oriented (krystyn, weephun, VectorB, and Fenwicked to name a scant few), so when we're all together it's sort of a well-oiled machine. Everybody sort of acts as leader at the same time, and communication is definitely the top priority. As long as everybody know where everyone is and what they're doing, coordination becomes a more fluid thing as opposed to something that people strive for.

Actually, I'd be willing to say most, if not all of us, are team oriented.

As for leaders, I'm not so sure it's about not having them, as not having a cohesive plan. I have noticed that we don't regroup, and I think that ends up being a problems, because we end up rushing one or two at a time, and they mow us down.

However, some of the games on friday, we were just locked down. I think even with a plan, it would have been hard to do anything. Sometimes you're just plain out-gunned.

I'm with INCyr, I think most of us are really team oriented. That's why we stick around the beekeeper clans instead of striking off into the unknown void of the rest of Xbox Live.

While we do lack some sort of overarching strategy most of the time, I like to think that we make up for it in flexibility. I can't count the number of times I've done something crazy on my own, managed to get the flag out the door, called for help, and had multiple someones swoop out of nowhere and provide cover.

Or if I manage to get the bomb inside the door, others build off that. Etc.

And yeah, sometimes the other team is just plan superior and even a 100% defensive strategy wouldn't have given a tie.

On just about every map (except waterworks) I usually make a bee line (no pun intended) for the flag or bomb and have a singular goal in that objective.

I have to admit that I am lacking in the direct shooting department (aka dancing with your enemy and try to kill them with ever is at hand...smg's, shotguns, small furry animals, etc...)

I like to snipe on waterworks and I think that is the only map I am decent at that at.

Not really all that competive...just like to have fun (or snag glitchers when they cheat...grumble grumble)

just my 0.02$ worth...

Conversely, I like to run out, get shottie, and then wait in the doorway for Ubercado to come running in after leaping off his ghost all suave-like.

Id say that we work well togher by seeing what our teammates are doing and then adjust for it. For me, I like the banshe but if some one else happens to be running for it then i will change my tactics and back up some one else or move to defence or go where ever the gun of Vector is needed. And i think that pretty much everyone does the same thing. no complaing of some one takeing your favorite gun or vehicle. I also like that I generaly know what people are gonig to be doing. I always feel safe to continusly throw myself at the flag while our flag is safe under the watchfull eye and shottie of Krysten.

Yah, the general case seems to be good coordination. Only problem I ever really see is going after the objective onesy twosy style instead of all together, but even then there is usually enough communication going on that the next group of 2 is able to follow up quickly enough to make a pseudo group of 4 type thing.

For me, the thing that really brought this home was playing a game with VMVash and having him babble in all our ears the ENTIRE game about meaningless crap. It was impossible to communicate anything to anyone and it reminded me how used to doing that with you guys I am.

Far from it. One of the main reasons people cheat, apart from sheer stupidity and complete misunderstanding of their own insignificance in the universe, is so-called "rank whoring." Very soon, we will start a process to punish those folks directly, or rather, make their efforts more pointless. If it were up to me, pitbulls would fly out of their DVD drive and lock firmly onto their toilet parts for the rest of their lives. Luckily it is not up to me.
