[Meta] How did you find out about PerplexCity? I was wondering through the posts...happy as a gambolling lamb when I got to thinking more about hook discussion and about the different methods that have been employed so far to get people involved. Talked it over with a mate (who lurks and refuses to sign up for anything) and I'm interested to know just what the best way of getting people in was? May be of interest to budding PMs? So here's the question:
What made you first visit www.perplexcity.com?
Or if you prefer, how did you pop your cubic cherry?
If I've missed a method please let me know (especially those who've been around a lot longer) and I'll try and sort it out...or scrap the entire thing as nonsense
[EDIT: I changed the name of the thread - "What's the best rabbit hole?" was a little too misleading. yanka.]
[Edited poll to include "PC Gamer article", at Mikey's request. yanka.]

Article in The Times but I counted that as word of mouth when I voted. The lav graffiti is genius though....
EDIT: Oooops - didn't notice the OOG mention option

Some bloggish website that had a bunch of links, mostly to point-and-click flash games.

I found out about this as ILB was drawing to a close. I wanted something to play afterward, that I could get in on at the start, and that I'd have a bit of time to recover before playing. Oh, and I wanted a great story too. PPC looked like exactly what I wanted. I read about it on ARGN I believe. Would that count as Word of Mouth or Pre Pre-game?

I did telephone market research for a while (yeah I know...feel free to castigate and hate me) and I was always instructed to say..."it's your impression of the question that counts"
so click the shiniest button...!

Me and about 4 other people burned through the first 90 or so pages of deathball.net/notpron. We started looking around for a more interesting puzzle, one of the 6 had played The Beast, and checked unfiction to see if there were any new games going on, and we settled on this one.

I'm from North Carolina, so when I saw a news article about strange post cards found in NC and Bologna, it kind of peaked my interest. I Googled it, and found this site about it. I played ilovebees earlier, so it wasn't unfamiliar.

Mikey, strange you should use the term 'popping your cubic cherry' - I fondly remember the warm thrill of discovery when I realised the Firebox ad actually led to something. And no wet patch.....

I know only a couple dozen people have voted so far... but I'm wondering if the poll results have the PM's a little worrried or So far, no one has said they saw the ads in the newspapers and ended up here. Well ...maybe they just haven't found the boards yet.
