[UPDATE] 3/11 - email from simon and wunder2.mp3

I got an email from simon! In the "cross" box I've been putting in a bunch of stuff, including my email address, saying to contact me. I think that's what he's referring to:

Quote:
Date: Thu, 10 Mar 2005 23:32 -0800
Subject: lmrxw
To: xxxxxx
From: simon@chaoseed.com

Ah, Unfiction's redoubtable Everyman. So nice to hear from you again.
If you want to help out,
there's a puzzle you managed to skip over, one about dividing the soul
from the body. I can't
just give you the answer, of course--where's the will and energy in
that? So here's a hint
you'll have to work on figuring out:

aaahxterxlisrhxsvkwpeviewwpqcxlspskcwpiyvstiwpvsqerwpwlcdhxlxqplwz

I also believe you've earned another piece of the sigil, so check that
out as well.
Ta-ta...

The subject ROT-22s to "hints". I think the hint is a Vigenere, but I haven't tried anything yet. Not exactly sure what he means by a piece of the sigil either.

More good news though: wunder has contacted us again! She finally put a file in her directory.

OK, I went to idea->tartarus, to the flash pentagram thing and clicked on a line...

I got a page that just said "thanks"! Now it's doing the "already chosen" thing, but maybe that's the piece of the sigil?

That hint is actually a ROT (this after I tried several vigenere programs on it).

dt are dots
sl are slashes

hmm, well it doesn't quite work but it's closer. I"ll keep looking for the exact page.

Okay, regarding wunder2.mp3:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Three songs in there. The first is everyone's favorite lack of diction, "Bad Moon Rising". The second sounds like something from an anime soundtrack, and the third's ripped from a gaime MIDI. Here, though, the words might be more applicable to the situation. (I hear directions like "the new stars will tell us where to go" in that second song.)

...it's not a picture, but it'll do.

Now, for that Vignere....
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
...it's not. You're thinking too hard. ROT-22:
wwwdtpantheondtorgslareasslmythologysleuropeslromanslshyzdthtmlhsv
http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythology/europe/roman/shyz.html (hsv?)

...I can't quite get it to work, but http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythology/europe/roman/ will load, so it's just a matter of deciphering that last bit.

EDIT: Okay, Rowan beat me to that last part. Oh, well.

OK, it's
http://www.pantheon.org/areas/mythology/europe/roman/s-z.html#V

s hyphen z hash v

That shows us (after some looking):
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Viduus ("divider") is the Roman deity who separates soul from the dead body.
new keyword - viduus

Things are getting interesting over at the idea and will pages.

Will has more bloody glyphs.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

2 ? 1 + 1 F

Ta974 is new. We think it's a boolean operator - either NAND or NOR

Vl885 Ta974 Vl885 Ta427 Vl397
T ?? T = F

Vl397 Ta974 Vl397 Ta427 Vl885

OK, that anime song is from the game "Phantasy Star Online". The song is called The Whole New World.

lyrics:

And the last part sounds similar to that fanfare midi.

Not sure what wunder's trying to tell us though ...

Well, I was correct about the "cross" text box being a communication to Jill.

However, I didn't factor in the possibility of living trees and pillars. Silly me.
