ok peeps here it is:

Game of life
changing reality
Unknown phone calls, urban treasure hunt, strange text messages, mysterious postcards, crypted online and newspaper adverts, tv commercials... Would it be a worldwide conspiracy again? Not quite. It's just a young medium who's blurring the line between fiction and reality trying his wings.

From RPG's to guerilla marketing

Alternate Reality Gaming is a mix of several genres: treasure hunts, interactive story telling, videogames, and all this woven together with the customs of online communities. Many say that it could become the most effective tool of guerilla-marketing. The complex -put together from crypted websites, puzzling traces left intentionally in irl newspapers, the characters' late-night phone calls- puzzle games make an individable mixture of dramatic stories and everyday life. They can last for weeks, months, or even years.

The roots of ARG are to be looked for in rpg-s, the good old text-mode video games [like Zork], the treasure hunt via Global Positioning System.

Against aliens - from London

The real start was brought in 2001, by Microsoft employees advertising Stephen Spielberg's new film, AI, and was called The Beast. The more-week fun needed the most different wits, from microbiology to Go. The craetors made hundreds of fake websites. The pieces of the story were embedded in websites, like if they were traces of hackers.

[more comeing up later on]
