If it has not been arranged already, may I suggest that someone volunteers to watch the web during the hour specified incase the ground team need instructions on the fly. I'd do it but I think I may be bussy and given my location I might as well come join the mob if I'm not.

If you're feeling brave, it might be a good idea for at least one person going to Abbey Road and one person who will be watching the webcam to exchange phone numbers, just in case something involving teamwork comes up.

If I weren't overseas, I didn't share a phone line with three other people, and this wasn't going down at 4AM my time, I would totally trade numbers with you guys.

If you do trade numbers, I also suggest you try to get someone at Abbey Road to be on the phone with someone who will be in voice chat, since apparently some of us will be invited to talk behind your backs through IM.

[OT] but only a little.

This is a little off-topic. but only a little.

I was thinking of the abbey road album cover, and thinking of the old Paul is dead theories which were fFound all over the thing. info here about that. Then i noticed something which you are all quite welcome to disregard.

The Paul is Dead theories which used to be quite popular could, it occured to me, be the fFirst ARG. except it wasnt really an ARG, as much as rabid fFans looking fFor obscure clues and hidden meaning in posters, images, lyrics, and newspaper articles. --- but that's what an ARG is, then, isn't it.

So i was thinking, it's possible Abbey road was chosen as a tie-in by way of the esoteric historical roots in ARG culture. The PMs have used more than a couple references to ARG culture, so this could be a possible motivation.

Or, they are Beatles fFans, plain and simple. Or maybe they wanted a location which had a great deal of global recognition. Most promising thought, that last one.

Anyway -- interesting tidbit i had about poor paul, and all that stuff, I thought. And now, having used dangling participles, run-ons, and i've opened a sentence or two with prepositions, I retires fFor the evening, I does.

Smile

You got that right.
This is a very nice article about all the "paul is dead" thing.

I remember reading a long time ago about adverts that Nazis placed in a British / American newspapers that gave undercover spies information about up-coming invasions and missions. One was in the form of an advert for a dice-based game, another was a crossword puzzle.

So I don't think the idea is exactly new - whether you could classify WWII as an ARG i guess depends on your take on history Wink

I like the tie in to ARG culture. Paul being barefoot somehow meant he was dead. Classic urban legend. The pop culture of the Beatles and the Abbey Road crosswalk in particular are internationally recognized by a huge number of consumers. It's got Asian, European and North American crossover cachet. It's stunningly brilliant and i am looking for characters crossing the street carrying Zeller or Fran. Who knows what you'll get, but I sure wish i were there!

argh....

I can't believe it - this finally kicks off and I'm in centre parcs 'getting away' from it all!!

I don't think there are even computers there. I might have to rely on an internet connection over a Palm and mobile.
