I am not trying to pick on anyone here. I have, however, noticed that many people are posting spams as possible trailheads.

Email spammers use programs which generate random text in order for the mail to slip through spam filters. Lots of time this text will include random letters and numbers, seemingly unconnected phrases, or even passages from books. With the advent of this type of spam, I think it is highly unlikely that a PM would choose this type of method to launch a new game. The chance that the message would be filtered or discarded is too high.

That being said, anything is possible. If you receive something suspicious, try the following -

- If it looks like there is encoded text, try decoding it.
- If there is a web address, try Googling for it. Click on "Search for pages which contain this term". Many times if it's a spammer's site, other references will come up saying so.
- If there is any reference that looks like Cialis or Viagra or Pharmaceuticals or teen nymphs, pitch it.

If you're still not sure, post it to this thread and let's take a look at it. That way the forum's a bit more organized. If it turns out to be something more, we'll work from there. Smile

 		AIM convos
Addie: can we make a similar thread for the AIM convo start to a game? Which may or may not be one? Particularly the convos that either seem to be based on the name of an unfiction player or have some quasi-religous phrases thrown in.

Let's just have all of those in one thread and then people can move them into another thread if it looks like something, as you have done with the emails.

Addle's original post linked to a thread where "strange" emails could be posted for evaluation. If they seemed to lead to a game, then I think they would be moved out, though I don't know if any have qualified yet.

I suggest that we do the same thing for "weird" AIM convos. Convos that might appear to be related to a new game could be posted in a thread for evaluation.

If a convo is determined to be a launch of a new game, then it can be moved into a new thread.

Given the public availability of many people's AIM information, anyone could send a message to them as a prank.

I really don't think this is needed right now unless people pranking becomes a problem, I mean so far from what I've seen almost all of these weird AIM convos have turned into games, the reason we did the e-mail like that is because people mistake spam for trailheads, I don't know about you but I don't get many spam weird AIM convos
