I thought we'd decided it was Ataturuk.

That's what the red stamp says.

Yeah, Ataturk Airport is definitely Istanbul's main airport. Brief history: Ataturk is Turkey's national hero, he headed the fight against the invading Allied Forces in WW1 and later as the president of the modern Turkish Republic he modernised the country. Don't mean to sidetrack, but it's basically the same as JFK Airport in NY, or John Lennon Airport in Liverpool.

My wife is Turkish, she has friends in Istanbul, if you have any questions I'm sure they'd be only too happy to help. Let me know and I'll see what I can do (I'll check back in a couple of days)... Other than trying to read the writing, there's not much I can think of. I'll get the mrs to have a look and see if she can decipher it...

BTW, this is Ataturk Airport's website: http://www.ataturkairport.com/en/indexframe.html

Just looking at the website, and comparing say the pictures in the Shopping part, the flooring looks similar, and the lighting looks very similar too... But then, airports aren't exactly known for their individualistic charm, are they?

I emailed Ataturk Airport and enquired if they recognized the picture, no reply so far......

the postcard

I didn't see anything on this posted, sorry if it's been repeated.

The lights on the building are binary numbers:

01101000
01100101
01101100
01101100
01101111
01110111
01101111
01110010
01101100
01100100

"helloworld" is what it says.

Seems insignificant, but it might also be a marker to look for in images. Anyone have the software necessary to search for text in a binary file?

I realize this is a very old topic, but I didn't see this mentioned anywhere and I thought it might be relevant because the errorlogs were discussed in this topic:

if you plot the cache file names in a listing of the first 16 10-digit sequences in the number e, you get two series of 8, or two binary numbers. If you color the numbers that are in the cache file one color, and the numbers that aren't another color, you get your 1's and 0's. If the first sequence (2718281828) is a 1, the next is a zero and so forth.

The first binary number translates to the ASCii symbol for cent.
Seems relevant. The second sequence would translate to the ASCii symbol for cube.

Word of caution - the binary decoder I was using translates a lot of things to the cube symbol, particularly errors. So I'm not 100% that the second sequence tranlates that way, but it has an eerie relevance.

Usually your browser will display those characters whose sets you don't have installed as squares (is that what you are referring to?). As a suggestion for the future/sidenote: usually, the best way for people to confirm your finding is to repeat the steps that you have gone through (plus it saves them some time). In this case, it might have been a good idea to include the binary you got in the first step to save them the trouble of repeating your conversion process Smile

right you are! my apologies -

the bold represents "missing" number sequences
the plain text are number sequences that correspond to cache files

2718281828 4590452353 6028747135 2662497757 2470936999 5957496696 7627724076 6303535475

9457138217 8525166427 4274663919 3200305992 1817413596 6290435729 0033429526 0595630738

if bold numbers are "1"s and plain text are "0"s, the binaries are:

10100010 - "cent" symbol
00010010 - "cube" symbol

10010 = 18 = ^R or Ctrl + R (whichever notation your familiar with) which you probably saw as a "square" because it has no display character.
