Hey chad Smile
The webcam is located (I think someone took photos of it) near the entrance to the studios, behind that there's Abbey Road. If you look at The Beatles Abbey Road cover keep in mind that the photo has been taken from the crossing you can see in the webcam (facing the webcam) so basically what you can't see on the webcam is what you can see on the cover of the album Wink

First of all, thank you Seej, it will be good to have a 'messenger boy' on hand. Are you comming to voice chat, too?

Well, I gave this some thought a little while ago and decided that if I was ever meeting up with people like this then the simplest thing to do would be to print out a blow-up of my avatar and tape it to my shirt or something - that way everyone would know who I was without even needing to ask.

Also a good idea. Very clever.

I once decided that if I ever meet people from IRC offline, I'd get a t-shirt printed with <@KSG> on it. (I can see how that might not work if I were in london, because for some odd reason, I'm not a moderator here yet. And I've been posting for, like, two months! Can you believe it?)

Thanks BonoVox.

So, the webcam is facing the opposite direction to the album cover?

So what is in the background of the webcam? I can't make it out.

Chad

Yes

See it this way...
You can see the crossing which is the one on The Beatles cover
You can't see the road with parked cars which is on the back of the Beatles cover since that is behind the camera Wink

Don't have facilities for voice chat on the computer with the net connection (gimme 4 weeks or so to move house and get it set up.....) so, sadly, no. Besides, I'm gonna have the handsfree kit for my phone in my ear so that would probably get confusing if I get/make a call Smile

What I'm planning on doing is passing on any info as and when I get it via IRC first then posting it here (unless it's something I know off the top of my head). When that's done, if you lot haven't solved problems/answered questions etc. then I'll join you trying to solve. I figure it makes more sense for me to concentrate primarily on communicating rather than working on the solves myself.

Whilst some of us are lucky enough to be on Abbey Road (probably freezing to death and getting drenched in the rain!) some people are going to be in a voicechat as well as on irc so for those who dont know about it / how to get into the voicechat room etc theres info on the wiki:

someone should take a mini audio recorder or camcorder and record what happens... if there's dialogue, it would be great to hear it to make a transcript, or see what's going on directly if something happens (not through jumpy webcam updates from a distance Razz).

But I'd recommend to be safe, keep the tool fairly discreet... if there's interaction, the actor might be more hesitant if he sees someone carrying a monster video camera or it ends up like they're getting interviewed or something... ie keep it as natural as possible Smile

feel free to disagree with me that this is a good idea Smile

I was planning on bringing my old Clie which has a Voice Record option. It isn't very discreet though unfortunately (unless your idea of discreet is practically shoving the damn thing up Dinah's nose).

It can also make lo-quality movies and stills, but i'm sure someone else out there will have a proper handheld camcorder they can bring.
