SUGH. They are erasing everything they did right. the more analog the better. the size I understand as people somehow seem to prefer the children's controllers. The ps controllers are the least comfortable controllers ever made by man. But two control ports? That was stupid and outdated on the PSX. This day and age it is absolutely pathetic. Anger making. Boycott making.

If I wanted all of these mistakes I would have bought a PS2.

Well, before we start with the pitchforks and torches, perhaps we should wait for Microsoft to announce their system (which they haven't actually done yet) and show the design. Besides, some of us happen to like the size of the s controllers, and also happen to like the PS2 controller (and the PS2, for that matter...where else would I turn to get my RPG's) just as much as the xbox controllers, so to each their own, I guess. I do agree that only 2 wired controller ports seems a bit silly, but I agree with fugitive that it will probably only be 2 wired, with more wireless capacity. I also think it's a great move to eliminate the silly xbox live communicator module that you have to plug into the controller, and just making a headset jack.

Back to the Future....

This is almost too sad to be true.

SPOnG is now pretty much certain that the finalised name for the Xbox 2 is actually Xbox 360, with one of our staff infiltrating a top-tier focus group held by Microsoft for its new Xbox last night.

As you may know, this comes after Xbox lead J Allard used the moniker Xenon for the first time at last week's GDC.

The study, held in London's Soho, saw a mixture of male and female gamers and Xbox owners presented with a series of prospective marketing campaigns for the Xbox 360.

The three lead contenders to be offered by the best in media and marketing to date are - somewhat depressingly - Xbox 360: Amplify Yourself!; Xbox 360: You're Next!; and Xbox 360: Shine! Really, that's what they're working with right now.

The tagline for Xbox Live is another Nadbaggian example of consumer lifestyle marketing at its most generic. Xbox Live: Ménage a Billions.

All of this was offered up to what was quite a cynical bunch of consumers last night. "It became clear to me that the marketing brief given to whoever this agency is who has come up with these ad concepts for Xbox 360 should have been to communicate the fact that Xbox 360 is instantly connectable to your friends, and by extension a network of friends and friends of friends and potential gaming partners you might not meet or have met in any other way... other than through online gaming through the online Xbox 360," said our man on the inside. "Either the brief was way off this clearly straightforward objective – or the agency have failed to communicate this."

A considerable selection of concept advertising was shown to the group too, though again this smacked of coming from the stable of generic urban lifestyle marketing. As one attendee told SPOnG, "It seems odd that since the original PlayStation launched, they [media agencies in general] can't come up with anything more imaginative than clubs, girls and drug references to get us to buy."

The reaction to the name Xbox 360 was in itself a sticking point. "Will it come with some kind of 360 degree headset?" was the first question asked upon the announcement of the name. The answer, somewhat unsurprisingly, was no.

That's not entirely true. The PS2 marketing was pretty intresting (the ps9 inner-cranium platform mockup) though it had its own problem: it basically said "look at a really cool idea. You can't have it so buy this evolutionary worse thing instead."

It could be worse...they could have gone over-the-top-hip-type-speak-thing and called it...

I'll propbably end up buying one, I love what they're trying to do on the developer end, but some of the proposed marketing is about attractive to me as if it were a pink hello kitty box, and I'd probably have more fun joiking about it... Neutral

hmmm, that's funny... i just came across this new website:

Quote:

This is my web page mostly dedicated to cat raising. I have been raising cats for seven years and I'm still learning. I have three litters and I produce and sell pure and natural kittens (no antibiotics or forced breeding, unlike pet store kittens.) Click here for more about Margaret's Felines.

ya know, i don't think that Sean and Elan are trying very hard anymore...........

I found that site, too. They just released a list of GPS coordinates. I went to one of them, and there was a big litterbox... Dunno Question

And I heard a rumor about Halo 3: Halo Kitty. Apparently, there's going to be loads and loads of "downloadable content." Ewww.
