interesting point - what's the local time zone in Perplex City - is it GMT, EST, PST...? Is midnight there midnight GMT? This might help to know because you would know what time to look for changes (i.e. it becomes March 22 at different points in time across the different time zones)

The paper seems really biased. I've gathered from the "ads" that PPC is an intellectual sort of place. Most intellectuals try not to be biased.

The three people who have had letters published in the Sentinel seem to display a good deal of intelligence:

Ian Shivuto has a little anti-capitalist stab at holiday consumerism (and I wholeheartedly agree with him). Kylie Sharp complains about the Sentinel's superficial and unnecessary coverage of celebrity clothing. And in contrast Emile Farrow congratulates the Sentinel for good foreign news coverage.

If PPC has a political structure then does this paper lean towards the left?

The paper was orignally called the Perplex City Sentinel and Working Man's Friend and failed to make a profit for 10 years so does look like it is a lefty paper.

Now the paper does attack Sente due to the cube missing. This could also be due being against the Academy. The info we got from Abbey road had this quote "Hi sir, would you pass by a scholar without raising your arm?"

So maybe the scholars could be seen as high up in the class system than people who dont go to the Academy. The Academy seems to have grown more and more and likely have an important role in the city.

Also Armand Levi a previous editor is a representative on the City Council. Which looks like there are 5 people Although it does not say I bet he voted no on the sale of the land at northside to real estate developers

edit too much to post at moment jsut jsut to add does look like a update next monday. there are a few stories which all have action then.

Also www.perplexcitybank.com is a Domains by proxy reserved site.

(no clue what the second 'C' is in PCBC)

I'm guessing it will be updated at 2am, since the last update was at 2am yesterday...

Forgive if this is trout... and it's probably just a technical thing anyway... but does anyone else get the script "S" before the website address (in the address bar) when they go to the site? It's the same "S" in Sentinel in the banner. Is there any significance to it?

its basically an icon stored at http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/favicon.ico
if you want an icon to be displayed next to the url in the location bar, then all you have to do is place an icon called favicon.ico in the root directory of the website...

was that 2am GMT, or EST, or other? if it was GMT, then can we assume that 2am GMT = midnight Perplex City time?

...which would place perplex city in like athens, cairo, or jerusalem (or a hundred other places, of course)

Or 2am seemed like as good a time as any.

I'm not sure we can say at what time the sentinel site was updated. tanner happened to find the ad at around 12am PST, and when he gave us the url, the site was already live - however, when it went live is not really clear.

It's possible this is behind-the-curtain information which we should not know. spoilered to protect the innocent.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
when the site went live, fFirefox, myself, and some others noted we could browse the directories of fFiles at /archive/2005/. This was quickly disabled as the PMs were watching us watching them. But, the dates on all fFiles was March 21st, and i think the time was 2:00 am. I think. Which would be 2am GMT. it is natural to assume updates happen at midnight local time, which is GMT-2.

Looks like the last update was 6PM PST, or 2AM GMT.
