You're probably right about the website though, but as I said it was just wild speculation on my part. Is that not encouraged here ?

It is. That said, wild speculation (and, in some cases, even not-so-wild speculation) is often met with varying degrees of criticism Mr. Green

Has anyone attempted to access this site via some sort of hand held? Pocket PC, Palm, Cell phone w/ wireless web? Not having access to this technology at this time, I can't try it myself.

I doubt that that would be the only way to access deeper into the sight. An ARG of this magnitude wouldn't want to limit it's player base due to a technology restriction. However, it's worth a shot I think.

While we know that perplexcity---- .com addresses have been registered and parked with GoDaddy, I tried another tactic and found this:

http://pxcsentinel.com/

and yes, there are pxc----.com addresses registered and also parked at GoDaddy, like pxcbank, pxccouncil, etc.

It does not appear to be any different, even the modified date matches perplexcitysentinel

For what it's worth!

EDIT: Ditto the comment below about pxc.com. It is too different from the other parked domains; I agree it's OOG. But the pxc--- .com ones? Def. in!

Perhaps bears some watching, but I'm gonna argue OOG. Source shows use of FrontPage, no 'index.html' page, etc. -- i.e. very different source code 'signatures' from those we've seen so far. And

I just tried accessing with my moto V220 via wap, and the page was too large to transfer... Sad

This sounds very far-fetched to me but what the heck : Googling for YSH I found www.yoursimplehost.co.uk :
- UK-based hosting provider
- that does not seem to accept any new customers, has an utterly broken website, closed forums...
Could it be a cover ? Again I don't really believe this is connected but still yoursimplehost.co.uk a bit strange by itself (what real-world hosting provider would allow its website to be so broken ?).

Here is the whois on the site. It seems OOG to me

Just re: the 15 letter file names, and I apologise if this has been mentioned already (i did a search for the text string and nothing came up, not do i remember reading it) on the receda cube focus page if you ignore the sente_kiteway_s.html link and try:-

http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/sente_unfit_for.html you get a page with a header saying Sente Unfit for Office - Image but there's no image or anything... unless I am being super blind!

Sorry, am a divvy and forgot to type the archives bit in. Repeat after me, "learn to love copy and paste, learn to love copy and paste"...

And not to be too picky or anything but i have spotted a minor inconsistency in dates...

In the Receda Cube Focus... the article dated Jan 15 states that
"The Receda Cube was stolen one year ago today"

but the email from Sente says

"On January 16th 2004, an object..."

So, are we a day out somewhere? Is Iona Rodie a v poor researcher? Does 2004 being a leap year throw out the anniversary? Do I need to get out more because I'm sitting here muttering "I'm sure it was 16th...." as I plunder the Wiki?

Ok, the article at the bottom dated the 16th says it was stolen "last night" so that puts it on the 15th I guess, so Sente is wrong? But then it says "stolen at 2am" so back to the 16th... gaaah!

Check your links .. as the website is http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/ not http://www.perplexcity.com that we are talking about

Edit - Thanks for editing it geofortean

Ok, I think I may have found something...but then again don't get your hopes up...

I was looking at the links from the front page that take you to the relevant page of the article...and was trying to figure out if there is a naming convention they use...(because if we know that, then we could maybe find the urls for the rest of the articles)...

Here is what I have so far, but I havn't properly analysed anything yet...

Quote:

PCAG Ejects Nuru

Long-time sportsman Jackson Nuru has
been ejected from the preliminary round of

Kiteway Unfit for Office
Editorial/Opinion
Sente Kiteway should be removed from
his post as Master of the Academy

archives/2005/03/sente_kiteway_s.html

thing is, i cant see a patter for the other two articles, apart from the fact that the surname of the author of the article start with a 'v', and the url is
archives/2005/03/crispy_heaven_[n]v[/b].html
and archives/2005/03/centrifuge_buys.html is the actual headline...

hopefully this post will prove useful...

um, i think you mean http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/archives/2005/03/sente_unfit_for.html

BUT... intriguingly, this is one of the articles we *do* have access to, except under a different name. On the front page (and the main article page) it's titled as 'kiteway unfit for office' and the link you click through to is http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/archives/2005/03/sente_kiteway_s.html whereas its retitled as 'sente unfit for office' on the receda cube focus page and clicks through to the same url as previous. the correct url is taken from the first line of the article rather than the title. so, why would the url that geofortean posted still have a title but no content when the title he took it from *does* have an article? and what does the 'image' refer to? the image associated with the article has a different title next to it. and for the record http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/archives/2005/03/kiteway_unfit_f.html doesn't work.

EDIT: whoops, i dont think i read geofortean's post properly, sorry if i trod on anyone's toes :s

rach =)

Yeah ok, I typed the wrong address first time - got all confused - too many windows going at once - sorry! Have edited my original post now to disguise the idiocy - so shhh, and I might get away with it.

For the record I have spent an *unhealthy* amount of time trying to see if the other cube articles are floating around the site, using /archive/2004/ and the the month number and various 15 letter html files - mainly because I started thinking why it would have 2004 in brackets after the Perplex City date... unless it was something specifically for us Earthlings to get a frame of reference from - also randomly tried archive stuff for the other two theft dates from the article.

crispy_heaven_v.html is, I guess, something to do with violations

Hi, I'm new here so be gentle.

Anyway, I want to begin by contributing my tuppence worth and ask if anybody's noticed the link between the letters PCBC and Plain (or Propagating) Cipher Block Chaining?

Could just be a coincidence. Unfortunately, I'm no expert in crpytology so I wouldn't know where to take it from here. Anybody?
