The very first thing I think about when I hear the phrase "staring you in the face" is the image cell phone mail on the phone where the person is glancing through a vial or vase or something at the camera. I don't know if that leads anywhere but it was something that didn't lead us anywhere at the time we originally got it. Maybe it's a lead for us now.

I'm a little annoyed with this game now. At all the other stages we've had a kick in the right direction by the clues and emails etc. but this one "the answer is staring you in the face" where??? it cant be the mirror cuz we already got that one. unless the numbers relating to the letters of FIDELIO which would be 6845815 which means we got an extra digit? or maybe one is supposed to be a two figure digit?
also if that's the numbers we've gotta enter on the pictures, where do we get the correct order for the pictures? is that staring us in the face? cuz we've tried the combos off the HWAU site.

man I'm just a little annoyed cuz one of the other games i was playing just finished and i was enjoying that

this originally meant that we had to look on the mirror in Jon's bathroom.

mirrors and reverse images and speech are well known to be associated with the devil.
remember that weird video? that was brigid talking in reverse.

i can't help thinking that this might mean we have to reverse something... but what?

maybe the word fidelio somehow relates to the six signs?

E = Trident (cos it has three 'prongs')
L = Lepidoptera

O = Ophidia

this is really getting annoying now

i tried this:

on the marlowe site, there's a list in chronological order of all the sites they have made.
in order they are: (starting with the earliest)

stella artois
inferno cargo
golden futures
magus portal
omni publications
thirteensixtysix
pathway travel
trident air
ophis
sable+shuck

now, we know that some of these sites are represented by the symbols in the final puzzle:
stella artois = STAR
inferno cargo = FIRE
pathway travel = RAVEN
trident air = TRIDENT
ophis = SNAKE

the two i can't find are the dog and the butterfly.
my thoughts were originally that magus portal, omni publications and golden futures kind of made a 'triple', possibly relating in this case to cerberus the three headed dog.
and S+S collect souls, which obviously relates to butterflies.
so, i figured the order could be
star
fire
dog
raven
trident
snake
butterfly

but this doesn;t work, backwards or forwards, using numbers 1-6, or the fibonnacci sequence.

how irritating.... it just felt so right.

On the HornchurchStar website there's a Crossword Puzzle.
The solution to this CrossWord gives us the following symbols and values:

OPHIS = 25 (GREEK FOR SNAKE)
INFERNO = 23 (LATIN FOR FIRE)
SERPENT = 21 (LATIN FOR SNAKE)
SHUCK = 19 (BLACK DOG?)
CERBERUS = 17 (3 HEADED DOG?)
TRIDENT = 14 (TRIDENT)
RAVEN = 11 (RAVEN)
SOUL = 4 (BUTTERFLIES ARE THE SOULS OF THE DEAD?)

I tried some combinations already but because of the double possibilities for DOG and SNAKE I don't see a solution this quickly. Maybe someone out there can do something with it?

yeah, these numbers might bring something

i'm trying all combinations of:
butterfly 4
raven 11
trident 14
dog 17
snake 21 or 25
fire 23

depending on what value you assign to the snake (21 or 25) you have to swap snake and fire in the ordering.

EDIT: just noticed that the answer to 19 down is NOT shuck, it's conch. so that only gives us one option for Dog (17)

I think the numbers will be one of these:
- 1,2,3,4,5,6 ---- Left to Right
- 1,2,3,4,5,6 ---- As you've ordered them
- 6,5,4,3,2,1 ---- Left to Right
- 6,5,4,3,2,1 ---- As you've ordered them
- Same with 1,2,3,5,8,13
- 21,21,21,21,21,21

The clues we have are:
- webcam day 8
- Devil island guestbook? (Devil island is the picture at the start)
- Fibonaci / Golden ratio
- 21 (remember that 1+2+3+4+5+6 = 21)
- "Staring you in the face"

I think that the numbers with be 1,2,3,5,8,13 because of webcam day 8, there doesn't seem to be any other use for it otherwise (assuming this is the end of the game)
