Technically, if the key was a mental implant, it would still be a call, just a be more intimate then voice to voice, think more along the lines of mind to mind.
Tj-
Edit -Oh and in the Us I always spell it "apologize" Hmm... Is it possible that some of the Pms are American? Maybe we won't be so left out over here!!!

Actually its very common in the UK to use the word "call" to mean contact, so it not necessarliy means telephone.
i'm from the UK, i don't recall ever using the word call to mean contact other than through the telephone.
You've never used, "How 'bout I call 'round at three o'clock?" meaning you'll physically visit? I thought it was a common colloquialism.
But if it does indeed mean telephone, perhaps 'keying in' might mean text messaging?

Does this make sense? I mean, why would the date of a newspaper change when the story cotent remains the same? And, doesn't this make searching through archives (for specific stories on specific dates) impractical?

Would it be possible for one of the moderators to make a post on the quick reference branch (moderator posting only) that gathers together all the email addresses we're acquiring?
More might open up and it would be a good way for us all to make sure we've emailed every available one incase it's important that we make contact with them.
Thanks!

American english has changed a bit, I believe the last time that we used 'call' to describe a physical visit is around the Civil War. We're so uneducated
I think the Javascript calling the date is just something for their convenience, although not very practical.

a boyfriend dropping by used to be called "gentelman caller." but that is antiquated now.
when you raise your hand in class the teacher calls on you to give an answer.
and the term "social call" is still used to describe a freindly visit.

A thought just hit me. This was a necessary update because we didn't spot the fact that we should point our key to "news at perplexcitysentinel.com."

We missed that the first time. How dumb were we?
Touche.
I agree that makes perfect sense...
but.....then what to do with this quote from the sentinel?
Quote:
For all other purposes, link to the Sentinel with your key and a customer support representative will help to direct your call.
link with your key? I tried emailing key at perplexcitysentinel dot com and got this:
Quote:
<key@perplexcitysentinel.com>:
67.19.175.242 does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 unknown user
Giving up on 67.19.175.242.

key.. connecting back (sort of) to the Sentinel Key thread, I anagrammed Sente Kiteway to "KEY AT NEW SITE." Funny coincidence if the below doesn't work...
I also got the no address for the perplexcitysentinel.com, but I emailed (successfully?) key at perplexcity.com and have been waiting an hour and a half for a response.....will update if there's any news.
just to toss that in there.

It makes perfect sense if your a PM reading several days of IRC chat demanding an update. This way, the page shows the correct date, no matter when its viewed, since its dynamically called by Javascript by your browser, and displayed.

I'm a born and bred Brit and I spell it "apologize".... maybe I'm the PM hehe
annnywho. I've been lurking on PPC for ages now. good to see we've got an update but kind of a shame that there's not much info on the sentinel. I've been sending emails to all known addresses also tried editor @ PPCS and got nothing. I've emailed all the addresses with the subject of "key" and got the auto-responder. Maybe we're missing a key from one of the previous sites?

OK, this is probably WILD spec, but there is an odd site out there, www.newsite.com. It seems to be just a page that says "Newsite Internet Services" and a link to a page with a form to fill out for someone to call you back.
No other info, but the main image is supposed to link to www.newsite.com/10172000_index.html, but that page doesn't exist. 10172000 was not in the first 1 million digits of e, so it may be nothing.
The site was registered with godaddy.com, but the registrant was listed as New Boy Network of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. So it's probably nothing, but if someone doesn't mind making a of themselves, then they could ask for a key.
Edit: took a look at the page source and it says a lot more in comments than the site itself does. Definitely looks OOG.

Question for all who sent messages to lettersSPLAT perplexcitysentinel.com detailing our efforts.
Should we? I mean, clearly Sente has thought it a bad idea to tell them what's going on - should we do what he hasn't? I mean, think about it. Anything we say here could lead the theifs to what we're doing, and it could keep them further away from us. I, for one, think we should only tell them that Sente is doing something. He can't tell them what, but he is.

I think we can assume that Sente is behind adapting the newspaper technology to our technology and that this adaptation is only partly completed. Thus, when "point your key at news..." became an e-mail address, this was Sente's doing. Perhaps it was a political move, designed to produce proof (i.e. our e-mails) that he and his team really are doing something?
