Found it! It was indeed bovine (Bull) rather than Canine.

Great work ellipses!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I tried using capital letters in the filename, and now it works as expected.

Yeah... it is a curious use of the word invisible, and made me think the same thing. As far as I can tell, you might as well send in the confirmation code and see what happens. It can't hurt anything.

Good job on finding the answer! I feel extra stupid, because my program originally was checking the websites with capital letters, and then I switched it manually. ItWasntMe pointed out that I might have made some errors... I checked my code and he is exactly right, I had transcribed two of the letters wrong from my program (so don't be confused... my mistake). The first thing I posted is what I should have had. It's no help now, but if you look... I actually would have got it anyway if it was in lowercase, because the answer is in that file anyway.

I wondered about that myself - being one of the rejected ones. The rejection was my own fault for not putting any effort at all into my application - perhaps I'll get a second chance!

As for our invisible friend - I suspect there is a lot more to these "criminals" than we currently know.

And, while I'm here, I've not seen Chin Mae Park's blog post mentioned elsewhere - and the accompanying recording of pulsars. Anyone have any thoughts on what we should make of it?

i sent my cv in as an astro-spatial expert with excellent miner "entertainment and companion" skills Wink

i think the halo thing is interesting, worth further investigation

EDIT! But cross posted!
oooh. looks like someone was watching over us!! just got an email
from Ohmega ohmega at aresstation dot com

Please protect us

the subject code is Hex for "I'm invisible." Very Happy we have an ally (and an enemy)

I'm inclined to think the dog thing was a typo, and the email regarding the bull was a correction.

Anyhow, nice work everyone! This was definitely a "group work upwards in slow steps" puzzle, rather than a "everyone keep hacking at it until some random bloke gets the Big Insight" puzzle.

So ellipses and crustybottom, did you reply to this? Was just wondering as I noticed that the image next to your blog entries has changed to a provisional mars pic.
