ok, can anyone help me?

First, I assume that it's cookie based so due to the fact that there's no log-in to play from the start. So the fact that I'm on a public PC won't help.

Second, I'm on the first puzzle (Kimberly Wilson message/crack password to DB), but I have no message in my email, is this right? It's flashing, but when I click on it, there's no messages. (The DB password was already input when I opened the window, so that was no problem, I just hit submit and got into the DB).

There are cookies and there is a file that stores your progress. Check the still-life forums (Prelude section) where you can find it. It is not right that you can't see emailmessages in your inbox. Even if the person using the computer before you read them, they should still be available. It sounds like a technical problem. Perhaps someone in the official forum can help you.

not ARG?

OMG! I just read all 11 pages of the thread, followed the links, checked some details... And found out this is not a real ARG! Maybe you should warn others - edit the first message of the thread to tell this, or something Wink
Anyway, if you guys like this game... You should try J.D. Spy. It's downloadable, kind of similar to this, but the main character is you. Is starts with an error, which is a part of the game. Quite hard, but nothing experienced ARGers like you guys couldn't manage Wink Just read the help first to see how it workes, learn to use database, and forgive it a few slips (like, that you have to write exact phrase in database to find something, or it won't work. Like, you have to put in "the unfiction forums" to find it, while simply "unfiction" or "unfiction forums" won't work). Otherwise... It is the best game i've ever played. Just thought i'd let you know about this one Smile

Haha i've been playing all day and finished it a while ago... that was unhealthy, my eyes are probably 15% worse than yesterday.

It's not really an ARG in the tratitional sense. Or rather it is an ARG but a different from the usual type... Better to call in an Immersive Fiction Game Razz

It didn't really immerse me enough though, but that's probably because I raced through it. After a while, i got bored of reading endless e-mails. That's my fault though, I would have enjoyed it more if i took my time.

Well, I'm finally kind of stuck. I've reached the tile puzzle and the bridge thing, and I can't quite figure out what to do. I guess I'll just stare at it for a while. Maybe something will hit me.

That floor tile puzzle sucks! Just keep playing it like minesweeper until some numbers start to appear...

Grrr am stuck on day six, and have completed all the to do list but have one more email to answer. However i have put everything i can think of into the email and just get back the reply saying its the wrong answer!!

*Edit* - that was poor, i obviously emailed back with the wrong spelling cos i tried going through everything again and it worked this time.

Phew..... Finally finished it, well that filled a day at work!

Check the birthday wants list... there will be a string or numbers and letters. It could be a code! ...maybe. The key is not to forget.

Is anyone else getting the Blue Red Screen of Death after the end of the second week? Can't quite figure out how to reset this so I can get back in the desktop.

Grr, I managed the tile puzzle no problems, but its the stupid bridge one that I'm stuck on.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think it has something to do with looking at the whitespaces between the blocks and figuring out what letters could go in there - but I've always sucked at those type of puzzles. The closest I can get (if my theory is correct) is Tom Nova - which is not correct :/

Edit: Oooh..nevermind. I got it :D

2nd edit: Ya, I got the red screen o'death too - and now I seem to be stuck. Clicking cancel brings me to the File Error thingy and hitting OK there doesn't do anything. How sad.

On another note: did anyone else have problems with the Golden Snitch giving them the answer before they emailed Jason (or was that the way the game was designed?) When I was looking for the location of the 2nd girl, I noticed the site had changed and that it had the article about her death. Of course, it was a good thing since I kept getting errors when I tried to go to the archives to figure out the answer on my own.

3rd edit: Well, I figured out I can play with the Network Security Manager, but I have no idea what to do with it. And checking the Still Life forums doesn't seem to resolve my problem.

4th edit: Whee! I got it :D

Can you please tell me how you got the red screen to disappear. I'm playing this game for a day now and this red screen and file error message is getting me a little bit FRUSTRATED!!!!

Thanks
