coins solved Here's a text layout of the coins; i'll post an image shortly:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
CO DO/BE GU
__ NO DA/ID DD
UR TS/RK ET
__ TU AS/HE OT
AG MB/NI HU
__ LE GH/MB HE
EB TH/TT LE
__ OU HE/TR RI
RO GH/RE US
__ TH SA/TI GH
TH YP/ST NG
__ AT AR/OD T-
ER H-/TO AN
(sorry, that's a vertical representation of the horizontal layout - read in pairs, it looks better in a monospace font) graphic added below
so that comes out to be a poem or hymn:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Courage, brother! do not stumble,
Though thy path be dark as night;
There's a star to guide the humble:
Trust in God and do the right.

Ok, we got to the next page of this "trial"
on this page is a gentle nudge saying
Quote:
A humble man trusts in God. What should he then do?

The penitent man is humble. The penitent man kneels before God. The penitent man kneels.....kneel!
Sorry, someone had to say it.

There are 52 letters, and a standard 52 card deck.
The letters are in two groups, with a red or black background.
The cards are in two groups, dealer or player.
Maybe we can number the cards in a sorted deck from 1 to 52, then use the shuffled ordering to reorder the letters? Sounds like a long shot so I'm not gonna waste time doing that

The biggest problem with that idea is that there are three Qs and only 2 Us.
So unless the message is about a faqir or someone being tranqed, we have to manipulate the letters in some other way as well.

Okay how about decrypting the letters using the cards as the key..
Something called Solitaire Encryption over here , but it uses 54 cards with 2 jokes. Another variation without jokers is over here .
What we have is probably a lot different, but those methods can give us an idea.
Also there's the quote hidden in the source code: Confucius say: "Those who partake in solitaire, just playing with themselves"
Anybody found the source? Or why there are mistakes in the text?

The page was modified today, to insert the suits and ranks to the winner's table image.
Plugging the values of the dealer and player cards down the columns, using the table for lookup, i get this:
Code:
Dealer: Player:
HA T D5 O
C9 H S3 G
S8 E HK X
D8 T ST R
H5 R C3 L
H9 M D4 M
DQ Q H2 U
C5 I DK T
H6 Q H8 H
C7 P S9 S
HJ A DA H
S4 F C6 N
H7 L C2 Z
SK M D9 K
H4 A S6 J
H3 K C4 B
CK E CQ C
HT U D2 X
CJ O SJ I
CA U S5 X
D7 A SQ O
S2 Y S7 S
D3 Q CT F
D6 W HQ R
DT D SA E
C8 F DJ E
and it feels like there is a partial message there:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
T O
H . G
E . X
T . R
R . L
M . M
Q . U
I . T
Q . H
P . S
A . H
F . N
L . Z
M . K
A . J
K . B
E . C
U . X
O . I
U . X
A . O
Y . S
Q . F
W . R
D . E
F . E
= THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE ?
now, if only i can explain why each pair has a winner, and whether i've made an error in the lookups...

Hooray new trial! from the message that we got out of the cards: "the truth will make you free" we got this:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the whole verse from the KJV is "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free" (John 8:31-32) in the NIV the last part is "the thruth will set you free" vi sa vi: http://www.vagabondssojourn.net/setyoufree/
I'm so happy I actually contributed something. I feel like less of a lurker.

We have another update to the dominoes graphic the title was changed from "Either you have it or you don't" to "In hoc signo vinces" which translates to: "In this sign thou shalt conquer".
"The motto is said to have been adopted by Constantine after his vision of a cross in the heavens just before his decisive battle with Maxentius, A.D. 312."

recap of dominoes Just to review:
the page title was originally "before death",
then changed to "Either you have it or you don't",
then changed to "In Hoc Signo Vinces".
The image of pips has never changed.
The dominoes form the shape of "Odin's Cross", as described on symbols.com but the Latin title refers to Emperor Constantine's use of the Christian cross in battle.
I tried sorting the dominoes by the layout of the sets of 9 pips, looking for repeats and patterns. There are more than 26 varieties, but several repeat more than once. Here is an arrangement I made, updated to insert the square i was missing before
Description
pips reoriented to match

Just throwing this out there as a random passing thought, but is it possible that these could be something similar to the Braille alphabet? Braille adds extra dots to indicate captialization of both words and letters, which would increase the number of possible combinations, while keeping some repetition...

The wording is strongly suggestive of formal logic, in particular XOR, the "one or the other, but not both" of Boolean logic.
Edit: Of course, I said that before looking at the puzzle. The dominoes form the sign for XOR (plus sign with a circle around it), so there you go. The other thread identified the symbol as Odin's Cross, but I'm 99.9% sure it's meant to represent the XOR.
Edit Again: Maybe we're meant to replace the places without dots on the dominoes with dots and vice-versa?
