Working

Okay... it worked for me this time... don't know what I was doing wrong. Maybe someone else was trying to get it while I was? Don't know... anyway... good one (that's what I get for sleeping).

Also, Hannas' not so quick to respond to e-mails anymore... booohooo!

I sent Hanna the password she requested. Here is the response I got.

Great, thanks! I appreciate all your help.

If this hunch plays out, I'll let you know more. I might know as early as Thursday.

I don't know anything about any troglodytes, but I'll send the files to Chester. I know he's been looking for Max's files.

I've been looking for that post that said Chester cut himself on some jagged plastic, but I don't see it. Can someone post a link? I remember reading something along those lines before, but I would like to see it again.

It was this one. He starts off saying he was bitten - but "corrects" himself in the comments.

Hmm. I don't think we should interpret this to mean Chester is the killer, cutting himself on plastic. We know there are animals aboard, and we know its all hush hush kind of stuff. If they are testing on monkeys, then we know how he got bitten. Then he realised he shouldn't have said that, and changes his story. Perhaps they've made the monkey's more aggressive somehow, or else it just wasn't happy that Chester was putting it into a cage.

It is interesting to me that Max is the one asking what he got bitten by. Max may have been asking too many questions, and learned something he shouldn't have. Chester changed his story when he realises Max could read it. But then I'm really confused because it's Max's notes that told us they were doing animal testing, and have been for a while. So why would he wonder what would bite Chester? Error in consistency on the PMs part? or something else - you decide.

My guess is that Chester wasn't supposed to be messing with the animals, so he didn't want Max to know he'd been bitten.

I'd certainly agree that it seems unlikely that Chester was the killer - it was just an obvious reference back to the story he told - probably just to make us go back and re-evaluate this series of comments.

I think Max asking him the question was just him being subtle and giving Chester the opportunity to back down. I'm sure the two of them have been in on this (whatever "this" is) from the start - which probably explains Chester being given Max's job.

[OFFTOPIC]

Heh, this is a bit off-topic, but since the puzzle is already solved, I don't feel too bad for wandering off.

Nice to know that House of Leaves is being read in 80 or so years from now.

Pretty interesting book, from my perspective at least. Your milage most certainly will vary.
