Nice find! Cars.. people walking in the building.. elevator.. lots of new things including a sign board with a blinking light! That could be a puzzle..
The sign says VKOC.. the O keeps blinking on and off.. I transcribed the pattern frame by frame (ignore line breaks):
Code:
--------------------OOOO----OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO---OO
OO---OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO----------------------
-----------OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-------------------------------
------------O-O-O-OOOO-O--OO-O--------------------------------OO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Could be morse code.. couldn't work it out though.

edit: first of, kudos on the blinking O, i tried both binary (duhh nothing) and morse (lots of 0's and 5's or five dashes in a row, five dots in a row), as Brain mentioned in chat, it's most likely nothing... or at least i can't find anything from it
ok, for completions sake, destegging all of the images on the virgil site= nothing. (when i say all i didnt do spacers and backgrounds and stuff tho, only games and screenies, bio, and oro)
although the oro.jpg did give an odd error with stegdetect sens: 1.5 and higher
error: Bogus DQT index 11
prolly nothing. feel free to try destegging yourself
also: since im on the topic of the ouroboros, because that name sounded oddly familiar not only to me, but others in chat,
ouroboros: snake coiled, with its tail in its mouth. apparently a gnostic symbol, symbolic of time and continuity of life.
see more: http://abacus.best.vwh.net/oro/ouroboros2.html
could be a da vinci sketch on the site? dunno, mayhaps.

Alternate layer navigation Another interesting thing about the navigation banner is
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
That some of the letters in each of the options blink, which they don't do on the active page. They don't seem to anagram to anything though.

Could someone please explain How the other solutions (eg. except VanGogh) for the tree puzzle were arrived at?
Were they just guessed?
Also, as an aside, all of the names of the subdirectories appear in Virgil's bio. I've made a couple of attempts at log/pass combos but have found nothing.

I think they were just found by decking the flower flash. There was also another subdirectory in the navigation flash, but it has been scrapped.
Btw, there is a new entry in Virgil's blog .

Repeating Letters This is my first ARG so if I breach any etiquitte please let me know.
The screen shots for the video games "Memory Effect" and "Mind Mesh" both have the letters G, E, U, L, A prominantly displayed. In his bio, Virgil talks about the "Gray Eternal Limbo of Conspiratoria" which forms the acrostic GLEC. Three of these letters (GLE) match up with three of the letters from the screen shots. Co-incidence or a "Peace On Earth / Purity Of Essence" (Dr. Strangelove) type of hint?

Senses Fail
Mediation of thought, the foundation upon which I've built my fortune, is also often my worst enemy. Right now is just such a time. No matter how explicitly I explain my needs, my desires, these desires are still a slave to words, abstractions which have limitless shades of meaning, unable to fully convey my vision. Language is always a barrier, even if those around me seem on the surface to be communicating in the same tongue.
But what good are tongues if those around you lack ears? Or should I blame my own eyes for not seeing the gaping, bleeding holes on the sides of their heads?
There is too much at stake this early in the game for things like this to be happening. I need Emile now more than ever, and reliance on others has never been my strong suit.
/me wonders if we arnt getting his clues

solutions About the solutions to the unfinished puzzle, I tried Naoko seperately because it was his wife's name. I didn't get the other solution though.

Pictures There are three pictures in Virgil's bio that may need to be destegged. One is of him in a chair lit (mastersofart?), another of his high-school club (funwithpeers?), and one of him and Naoko (beloved?)

Nah, registrar info is out of game, so no poking there. We can check out any address/contact given in the ingame websites.. I think we have several phone numbers.

Source Code Looking at the source code for the splash page, it has a comment that is identical to the first half of the description of "The Nisha Chronicles".

Possible Key to Numbers

I found something a tad interesting in the rant pages - may be something, may be nothing. But if you look at rants_index.html, you'll notice that the numbering scheme for the entries isn't exactly what you would expect (namely date based). There seems to be two numbering schemes, a 500 series and an 1100 series. Neither is "complete" and so far I haven't found a reason why the entries are numbered so.
This is the order of the numbers:

001118 001117 001116 001115 000557 001127 000556 000555 000554 000553 001126 000552 000551 001125 000550 000549 000548 000547 000546 000545 000544 001124 000543 000541 001123 001122 000540 000539 000537
I tried looking for the 000538 & 000542 posts, but got a 404 error.
It looks like the 0011XX rants deal with the new game (Nisha Chronicles) while the 0005XX are regular rants. The newest rant jumps to 001167.
