Ultimate Halo Freak

Anyone else see this at bungie.net in time to enter the contest?

Well, I did. Though I really doubt I'll win, especially now that the link to the xbox website no longer works, but it was phun. Thanks to ThaJinx for helping me get the photo.

So, I thought I might as well share my entry here for all of your enjoyment/derision. Wink

I am the Ultimate Halo Freak. Halo in its myriad forms has permeated every facet of my being.

I started with humble beginnings. My college graduation gift was an Xbox along with one game: Halo. I took 2 months off after graduation before starting work and spent most of that time playing Halo alone or in co-op with my only other Halo playing friend.

But my fascination and dedication grew. Besides the obvious and plentiful LAN parties, I have read all 3 Halo books multiple times, built my "Halo room" consisting of a 120" projector screen and 5.1 Dolby surround sound, I help lead HALOID: the largest Halo group in Idaho, and I ran the Halo tournament at Fandemonium, the local fan convention. I even spent months playing ilovebees as Lt. weephun just to glean any extra information about the Halo universe and flew to San Francisco just to play Halo 2 four days early.

And now my conversion is complete. I received the Halo 2 soundtrack for my 28th birthday which was on November 9th of course. I took the day off from work in order to play Halo 2 from midnight throughout the entire day. My friends list on LIVE constantly reaches the 100 person limit and is comprised entirely of other Halo 2 players. I have become a master of social engineering procuring Halo swag from multiple sources. My son's favorite toy is his warthog.

Halo is my life. I am the Ultimate Halo Freak.

Nice pic!

*grin* I sent in the dorky but eager pic of myself in a vac-suit. I'm currently eagerly awaiting an X2VGA converter so I can play my X on my 21" monitor in hidef.

Quote:
Everyone and their brother have weekly gaming groups. We all stood
outside our local EB or GameStop at midnight in order to pick up our
coveted limited edition of H2.

Not everyone sat beside a payphone on the first day of the I Love Bees
mystery, became an officer in "The Crew" by cobbling together a vacuum
suit, and made it to one of four locations across the country for
advance screenings of Halo 2, four days before it shipped. Fewer
still have written a research paper for a senior-level literature
class on the Halo universe. All of my friends and family know my
addiction, and its name is HALO.

I moved next door to a halo buddy so we could run a long cable between
apartments for Halo Fests. Our christmas presents were,
unsurprisingly, the limited-edition mylar Halo print and the first
Halo novel. Instead of saying "rock on!" we say, "Hoo-RA!"

If none of this convinces you that I am the ultimate Halo freak, my
ridiculously eager face inside a "vacuum suit" should be more than
enough.

You can get stuph too here and here and other cafepress shops too. Not sure exactly which one had the durga/jersey bumper sticker, but I'm sure a quick cafepress search could find it for you.

*chuckle* The only thing I won was the opportunity to look like a total dork amongst dorks. Wink

Well, OK, but at least not this guy

Some of those were really scary. Shocked

When I originally read the energy sword one, I think I hurt something laughing. One of the funniest entries on that page, for sure.
