That IS clever, and mind-boggling! They live in a Tom & Gerry world!

brat also mentioned this in chat, yes it would be an interesting twist.
but how does the ceretin add fit in? its a photo of a real person. are we to think it was taken here on earth? if so why is it on the sentinels site... hmm?
this was kinda brought up at the start of the thread but somewhat glossed over. i think perhaps there are laws governing photography, or they all just like to go in for the nice hand-drawn touch.
a sketch does allow your imagination to run a bit more, personally i think they look cool.

We have to remember that both the PC Sentinel and Scarlett's site are being provided by Sente and he may have reasons why he does not wish us to see pictures of PCers.
They might not even look like us!
Or it could just be a stylistic thing...

The more i think about it, the less i buy this whole 2-dimensional world thing. the pictures we have of people are fFlat paintings.. but the images in them have depth. scarlett stands in fFront of a brick wall or a starry sky. Corolla is glancing off to one side. even the top-and-bottom fFraming images in scarlett's website exhibits an awareness of the third dimension (kite, clouds; trees, city skyline) I would go so fFar as to say the ceretin ad was given to us specifically to show "Yes, we have photos here. Yes, we have depth here."
As fFor this law regulating photography which people have set upon . . . well, i dont know about that one either.

Could it not be just its easier to use cartoons than photos. If they are going to have a lot of pictures and used photos they likely would need a lot of people to be the characters, needing to find a location for the shoot etc.
Guessing this would be more expensive then have some artist draw what they need. Also a lot of this is likey going to carried out in tight deadlines and last minute changes. So what happens if the character they need not going to be free?
However if they are going to be meet them in the flesh then some of the pictures will have to be based on who we are going to meet. Yet them everyone pictured so far from PC likely we are not likely meet them or at least any time soon.
set up the background to it looks like its from PC and not

One minor issue: you notice that the Sentinel pictures and the pictures of Scarlett look like they're drawn by the same person? I think that's interesting. I don't know what it means, but it's definitely interesting.

I'm not buying the cartoon world spec... or, to elaborate, I'd be extremely dissapointed if it did turn out to be a cartoon world. *twitch*
OOG, as someone already said, it's probably much simpler to draw the characters for websites. Adrian's probably got a PM that just happens to be an artist too. Hell, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a manga artist these days.
IG... well, we can come up with many excuses for it IG... but I think the easiest and most rational one is simply that The Sentinel has a certain style that Scarlet is shamlessly copying.

I'd agree with what's being said, it probably isn't a 2D world that they live in, mainly because I just can't get my head around it. However, that's a clever way of looking at it.
As for the use of cartoons, I think it will be something we'll see a lot more of yet, bearing in mind that it has also been used on things like the postcard and there may have been others. And I think it could work pretty well too.

Unless maybe the artist is the backer for this arg? That would be very unusual wouldn't it?

i think the drawing because a, its easier, and b, ceretin ad... it wasnt a full person pic, not even a full face.
they ARE NOT HUMAN!. however alike we are, we are not the same species. there is possibly some difference they want to hide?
being by the same artist (and an excellent one as well) well, since all of it filters through the academy, its an academy artisan redoing pics to go through.
also...
has anyone, even once, considered it may not be a game? that it IS real, and hon and others were contacted by sente...
okay, ive got my coffee, im awake now. nm.

From the new article at the Guardian, which Beano so kindly posted here :
Quote:
the walls of the Perplex City office are plastered with artist's [/end]impression of game characters, only a fraction of whom have so far been revealed to players.
"Who's the one who looks like Harold Shipman?"
We know that the PMs are, in a weird way, in-game. We know that they have an artist at their office who renders his impressions of the characters. A fraction of these renderings have been revealed to us (namely, Sente, that juror person, and Scralett). We also know that both the Sentinel's (as confirmed here: "version of our own humble Sentinel is being republished on Earth") and Scarlett's sites are "Earth" versions.
I think the pretty obvoius, even if somewhat lacking, explanation is: in-game , the PMs are using their artist's "impressions" of Perplexians for Earth versions of the sites - not that the Perplexians themselves have cartoons instead of photos. Remember all of that Adobe/Apple info in Sente's portrait? Now we know what drawing they took a picture of

Aside from the ceretin ad, remember the splash image at perplexcity.com and the nail ad...not very cartoony.
Although, yanka's post really puts it all to bed.
I do like the creative idea of them being a 2d world...its an interesting thought even if it isn't what is going on here.

IMHO cartoons muich safer...look what we did to the poor sky-line on indexB...now imagine if that was a person. They'd have the Abbey-road action squad on their doorstep as soon as the coach could get them there.
As an aside...Not just AH that's IG/OOG inbetweeny now, Michael Smith also:
