I think so, the timer is more than likely counting down to the unveiling of the Xbox 2 or XboxNext, Xenon, or whatever it's going to be called.

Might possibly be an unveiling, but i think in an industry sense they would want to keep the cards close to their chest until E3. This could be a "Megaton" thing, where we all hunger so badly for information, that E3 becomes dominated by the need to view/preview the new Xbox.

You can also briefly see a pic of a penguin every time you refresh.

E3 E3 starts in mid may just when the clock finishes. The clock itself finishes four days before the beginning of E3. Seeing as it takes several days to set up E3 it could well be revealing Xbox 2 at E3. After all four days would create hype for the event more hype means more press at their stalls and more coverage of the product.

When the ARG called I Love Bees was going on, there was a countdown that was similarly surrounded by speculation. In fact, the character that was running the countdown was called SPDR, and many players assumed it was counting down to a Single Player Demo Release of Halo 2.
You can imagine the disappointment when it did not.
A lot of people were irked when their expectations were not instantaneously fulfilled, and I don't want that to happen here. Clearly, we don't know what the clock is counting down to, but we can be pretty sure that it's not counting down to E3, which is four days after the countdown ends.
This is looking to be less an ARG and more of a puzzle game, which is alright by me. I just don't want anyone to be disappointed when they aren't mailed free NextBoxes in mid-May.
