I agree, I think the currency used by Simon for Blackbird is probably diamonds (or something similar). However, Persians certainly means drugs (persian rugs) - that was one of the ones I knew without looking it up.

The emails from Blackbird to Simon that we have seen were from a long time ago (1 and a half years). Perhaps he could only afford it that once. More likely, he can afford it when he wins at cards!

the point is you try to minimize the consequences because you think the payoff is worth the risk and the person you are talking to just needs a little more prodding.

again I maybe digging the in wrong spot here, but I wanted to throw that out there.
