[XBOX] Splinter Cell - Chaos Theory I just purchased this game and I must tell you that it is very good and addictive. I have really enjoyed the whole stealth aspect of the game. A clear departure from our other pastime.
Just wanted to drop everyone a line and let them know that if you wanted something different other than just running into a room full of bad guys and randomly shooting them, I would recommend this game.
And it has online play through live...hmmm...interesting....

Bah, if you want a stealth game, go with the original, and still the best.... Metal Gear (Solid).
But yeah, stealth games provide a very interesting contrast to FPS's.

BAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAH!
That's great, 'cause it's true.
God I love MGS... the other wonderful thing about it is that the series has a sense of humor as well. I'm sure Hideo Kojima gets just as much of a kick outta comics like that.

Anyone else hear the voice of Jersey in their head as they read the comic?

Well, yes! But that's because I was too bored today at work and I was listening some of the wavs again.

I just got to try chaos theory today...I love online co-op, and its definitely a superior stealth game to metal gear. Excellent choice for anyone thinking of a good, non halo game for xbox.

Is it really that much better than MGS?

It's not so much better as it is different. MGS has sort of an over-the-top action movie feel with a rather interesting (if lengthy) storyline, whereas Splinter Cell has a fairly forgettable generic "ripped from the headlines" Tom Clancy story (note that I haven't played through Pandora Tomorrow or Chaos Theory yet, so perhaps they've gotten better in the story department). However, personally I find the game mechanics of Splinter Cell much easier to handle - I played through Twin Snakes after getting very far in Xbox Splinter Cell, and Sam Fisher is much easier to control stealthily then Snake's somewhat confusing controls and strong inclination against looking down corridors. Splinter Cell is all about moving slowly, keeping silent, and staying to the shadows (rather similar to the Thief series, if you've ever played any of those), and MGS seems more about memorizing enemy patterns and ducking into nooks and crannies before they see you. (Again, I haven't played MGS 3, which I know has a stronger emphasis on stuff like camoflauge, so my comparison may be out of date.)
They're both decent styles, but of the two Splinter Cell is very definitely a 3d stealth game, and MGS I'd say is more of a 2D action/adventure game with stealth elements. I like both, but wouldn't play one if I felt like the other.

Well, so far I'm getting my ass HANDED to me on the Police Staiton level. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to manage the rest of the game, considering that's the FIRST level.
But I'm enjoying it at least...

Yeah! But that was almost certainly because I have the DVD playing loudly in the other room... on a Jersey Chapter none the less.
XD:D
Oh and Yes indeedy, SC3 is an excellent game! I found the first two a bit slow to capture the imagination, but SC3 is definatly one of the best games ever! Graphic wise, Story Wise, and shear gameplay wise.

I just finished SC1 so I'll trade it in for Chaos Theory. Because all of the COOL kids are doing it.

If you do, let me know. My friends and I need a 4th person to do Vs games with, since we all suck and don't want to play people online who are good.
