[CHALLENGE 4-12-05] Flaw in Hi-Res Image?

Did anyone else notice this? In the high-res image of the car from 4-12's challenge, there appears to be something photoshopped in or out of the image, on the fender, right below the headlight. Any ideas?

look at the light reflections and the people in the background, and the slightly visible polygonal edges on the car.
it's a freakin' awesome render, but it's not a genuine photo

Very true, but given the quality of the rest of the image, this one part sticks out. It looks like it was added to cover something up.

so do the floodlights reflecte in the side, almost look stuck on.
but to clarify my earlier statement, the headlight you can see isn't perfectly rounded, and the tarmac under the car doesn't look right

but yeah, on closer inspection, i think i see what you mean, the reflection just stops, like a block's been stuck over it.
weird:-\

hey, at the left of that box-that-looks-like-it's-been-stuck-on, anyone else see a reflected half 'x'?

i'm probably reading too much

well there's two conclusions. either it's a cover-over of something, or it's a glitch in the image.

we were given the picture as a rewardfor solving the puzzle. Now, it's either simply a shot from Gotham 3 for us to fawn over, or there's something there for us to see.
and that block does really stand out, once you notice it.
i'm probably setting up a whole lot of speculation here (and stealing your thunder, sorry.. take over if you want).
but yeah, interesting

Ok, so if it's there to cover something up, how do we go about taking it away. It really looks like it was just placed on there with the two different shades of red and whatnot. Also, would there be any significance with the image being named "1426.jpg". I'm trying to connect the 1426 to something but I'm drawing a blank. You guys got any ideas?

nothing beyond speculation there, but i would swear blind that it's been stuck over something. but the obvious nature of it would surely be to point to something, as whoever's behind this can surely afford to render off another shot without the offending item, or blend those seams a little better

Hey, run with it if you want. I just noticed it and thought it might be better to see what others know or can think of. My thoughts are it's to cover up some kind of message that might indicate Xbox or a brand name or something.

Or, as I read in another thread, it might be what's ON the image. It looks like what's in the center could represent a "0" and, as mentioned in another thread, previous reward pics seem to have numbers hidden in them; two "1"s and a "3". So if this were to follow suit, it would be 1,1,3,0.

But I'm with you, I'm just tossing out ideas. It might be nothing more than a shoddy touchup job.

that's the thing, i can't just put it down to a poor touchup job. the reflections stop so abruptly at the edges. surely someone putting this much effort in would just run off another copy? but yeah, as to how we go about finding what's underneath, i've got no idea.

definitely photoshopped

I viewed the source of the new image that colony Yay recieved, and that red bar was probably covering up something. Adobe Photoshop 7.0 was where the file originated from

EDIT - MERGING TOPIC TO PROPER THREAD - SG

might it be in the individual images? Maybe if we look at he pieces and put them together we can see what was covered. I have seen the composite image but that was before i saw the glaring touchup in the final version.

I don't know if anybody cares, but I found in the source when it was created

Code:
  <xap:CreateDate>2005-04-04T13:54:23Z</xap:CreateDate>

And then when it was modified

Code:
  <xap:ModifyDate>2005-04-04T16:07:20Z</xap:ModifyDate>

Okay, I'm going to assume a couple things:
1. This game will wind up having something to do with X-Box 2, X-Box Next, X-Box 360, whatever.
2. This is a render for a racing game that will be a launch title for said machine.
Having played nearly every racing game on the x-box, including PRG2, I'll be willing to wager that that is the position where the player can place a sticker from a car part manufacturer. I would guess that they did not yet have the rights to reveal their relationship with said manufacturer and so had to photoshop the sticker away. Either that, or this is a render that will be used in advertising and they did some slick thing like have the game's name reflected on the car.
I don't think that the absence of information is worth digging into. We already don't have plenty of information. I'd focus on the information that is there. But who knows? Maybe you'll find some clue some where; I'm just guessing.
