Regardless of what I believe, do what ever you want to do and have fun doing it. However, I think it's bad to keep bringing up these fake "sources" of information that have never even been linked to from the main site. It just confuses the issue and bogs down spec with so much pickled red herring.

If I remember correctly, and I may not, the Hivekeeper blog started during ILB and is very much fake. So, near as I can tell this person is still trying to be a red herring just to throw people off because that's how he gets his jollies.

The OurColony blog states that it is an Alternate Reality Game while the real OurColony site states that it is not an ARG... Nor is it an ARG... Because there's no alternate reality going on here. It doesn't claim to be an ARG because it knows that it isn't, and that appears to be intended as the Gamem8ker has said on the site in the past. Spelling errors aside, that's not a mistake I think they'd make. No doub't the fake blog will fix that tag line eventually. But that means exactly squat.

Until I see either of these blogs linked from the main OurColony site in a way that indicates they can be trusted, they are only so much garbage.

ah, but the ourcolony blog DOES say that it is not an ARG. look again closely! it's been there the whole time, because that is one of the first things i noticed as well before i saw it.

however, it is true that there is no link from the ourcolony website, so they are probably false, but it wouldn't hurt to have someone keep an eye on them just in case something turns up.

EDIT: if you agree, a new thread has been opened about what the blogs mean IF they are real: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9734

Who's to say that fooling others into believing your red herrings isn't a valid way of playing the game? Every game designer worth his/her salt knows that if you poorly define the ruleset, then the players will exploit the rules you do have available (often to the detriment of other players, like in the general forum). Players will go out of their way to find useful interactions (like making fake Our Colony blogs or posing as the gamem8ker in chat) until either you provide more rules/direction, or the playerbase becomes frustrated and leaves. Currently, it feels like the 'game' is fairly formless. That leads to frustration due to perceived randomness of the rules (see the "I know how an ant feels" thread). Unless someone happens upon some 'clue' that points us in a direction that seems like it will clearly lead to some sort of advancement, gamem8ker will have to offer more direction or people will quit participating.

The gamem8ker has gone out of his way to point out that when you are chatting with someone called gamem8ker, you aren't chatting with him. However, he doesn't offer (that anyone's noticed) any clues as to how we're supposed to 'win it all'. Perhaps the mention of that person not being him is itself a clue. Perhaps we will do better at the game if we put a lot of energy into making more faked up sites related to OurColony. Perhaps if we chat with people on IM or in chat rooms, posing as gamem8ker or someone else related to the game and fool others into believing it, we will get further.

We can no longer upload photos, challenges are hardly worth any points. Some of us work day jobs that preclude us from posting flyers around the world's great landmarks. Until someone comes up with a solid theory explaining how bonus points are acquired, I'll just continue to guess and stab in the dark with wild-ass theories like this one.

Man, it's late. I'm rambling.

The blog has just been updated... with two posts.. one that shows up immediately it seems and one you can only get to by clicking on it's link in the archives section...

The first one which can be found at: http://ourcolony.blogspot.com/2005/04/weight.html
says something else only when highlighted:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

The second one has a link that leads to this image:
