[UPDATE] Sentinel - Crispy Heaven (April 13th)

Quote:
Crispy Heaven Reopens
By NATASHA VALLIERE

Twenty-three Crispy Heaven locations reopened today after being shut down three weeks ago for health violations. Crispy Heaven's Gwyneth St. Paul read a prepared statement, saying, "We have co-operated with government inspectors to our utmost to ensure the safety and health of all of our customers," and "We will work diligently to be sure nothing of this nature ever happens again."

City food safety inspector Charles Nebbick, who headed the investigation into Crispy Heaven's practices, said that he believed that all former problems had been resolved. "One of the conditions in allowing the chain to reopen is that they submit to surprise inspections of their local restaurants, and their food-processing facilities both here and in the surrounding area," said Nebbick. "They have agreed to shut down again instantly if any fresh problems arise."

Crispy Heaven shares rose on the PCX at the news, up to PCL108.85. The stock has taken a battering in the three weeks the locations have been closed, with even the sites remaining open suffering from negligible sales volume.

Business analyst Derek Underhill of Dodgson Finance Corp. said, "The company's next step is to regain public confidence. Nobody wants to think they're eating a three-week-old piece of chicken." Underhill suggested that the company's diligent work complying with the requirements of inspectors, including suggesting the surprise inspections as a condition for reopening, should go a long way toward repairing any public relations damage it has suffered.

Crispy Heaven has its work cut out for it, though. Law firm Gates, Franklin has filed a law suit on behalf of seventeen Crispy Heaven customers who claim to have become ill after consuming Crispy Heaven foods. No court date for the case has been set.

The twenty-three Crispy Heaven locations had been closed in late March after inspectors found evidence of poor food handling procedures, including wilful tampering with expiry dates. No criminal charges have been filed.
I thought they were a doughnut shop - but they do chicken too.

[SPEC] Something with the PCL's?

I'm so glad that wasn't just me. Smile

[EDIT to add:]

Is there something going on with the PCL amounts?

[Edited to remove a bunch of useless SPEC because I can't read numbers...]

...

In the new article, it says the shares rose again, up to PCL180.85

The article actually says they're back up to 108.85, so I think the story hangs together.

As an aside, has anybody noticed that all of the links on the Sentinel site no longer simply link straight to the authorisation page ... they still end up there, but they now each have subdirectories on the site. Probably nothing, but I just noticed it is all??

once again, nope... the index on the left is, yes, but the headlines (right side) and the summaries at the bottom are still going to /authenticate... those would be the links to keep an eye on for now

Thank you Wishi San for correcting the Subject of this post!

I think I have something with the Corrections section. We had a correction to two different email addresses. But I also submitted a grammatical error (April 3rd) - and they have said no errors were printed.
Quote:
I was reviewing a mirrir site of your External Edition dated March 21,
2005. i noticed a discrepancy between the wording of the blurb and the
underlying story. While not an error in and of itself, the story
underneath contained a grammatical error in the following sentence:
"Sente Kiteway should be removed from the his post as Master . . ."
The "the" and the "his" don't go together, and this error persists at: Kiteway Unfit for Office and I can't see how it is proper. Shouldn't there at least be a comma - I think one of the words should simply be removed.

Maybe I didn't catch it in time - but hey - they asked !!!

"Corrections" in publications rarely post things about grammar. Usually it's technical errors. Wrong addresses or names. That sort of thing.

I wonder if the Ascendancy Thing is a ref to all the spec re: PPC skyline and engineering crazyness.
Also funny google (definitely OOG) on the last sculpture in Polygon Park "The Enigmatisit" takes you to a UK magicians site, the wallpaper of which is solid binary! (http://www.enigmatist.org.uk) hehe, I'm not going there...

Wording of the Crispy Heaven article.

I was noticing how the Crispy Heaven article was worded. Try re-reading it while thinking of the PM's telling us that they have fixed the problems they have been having. I think they may be telling us that the game is about to begin. Any thoughts?
