Blushing...
Category: print, 12:11 PM

Looking at all your emails (they just keep coming, wow!) I feel like I want to say a couple of things. One is: thank you so much for being so lovely and supportive and kind about my blog. You're all just wonderful! (Well, all apart from this one guy who called me an "insolent child". I'd hate to see how he'd write to my dad! Wink) And the other is... thank you for all your lovely emails about me. I don't think I've ever had quite so many offers all at once! You're all very sweet, and I hope you don't mind that I'm not writing back to you individually. And hey, if we ever find a way to get, you know, things over to your world, maybe I can be in touch with you!

Till then... nose back to the grindstone. This article is great. I'd forgotten that you guys had seen that postcard of the city. It's beautiful, huh? I love looking at the city at night, when it's all lit up. The view across the park from my house is so peaceful, even though I know the city's full of busy-ness...

Today's update

Which we've seen before...I'm so ashamed on behalf of the people of earth that she's seen that damn bird!

Right, yesterday at about tea-time sent this:

Dear Scarlett,

Hope you're doing OK, it was nice of you to wish Jemima well...she asked me for one of my Pleasurecards to keep her occupied so between us she'll be having a very good day in bed today! There's nothing worse than being stuck in bed. Pleasurecards are really cool and let you keep in touch with people you meet. They're brightly coloured cards with a PEP number on the back that you enter into the Pleasurecards website. This gives you access to an area about the person who owns the card. In order to get access though you have to sign-up yourself, which means that the person you're viewing exchanges contact details. It's a great way to keep in touch! Not sure I'm going to be able to send you a card (don't want to think about the physics of that!), but in case you want to get yourself a site my PEP number is XXXXXX. Maybe you could get Adrian or Michael to set one up for you?

Apart from the fact that I come across as a gibbering idiot...could:

this shows that they cannot transport physical matter in appreciable quantities, probably because their wormhole (and Im assuming its a wormhole that they're using to communicate because adrian showed us a picture of one several aeons ago, although it could be something like a Quantum computer)
is a) too small or b) distorted in some bad way, remember, theres not much between a black hole and a wormhole. In fact, some types of wormholes are just rotating black holes.
anyway, that leaves the question of how whoever stole the cube actually got it over here, as travelling to an alternate universe is a non-trivial problem, even for the acadamy

Unless perhaps the Cube was used to transport objects. That would mean they've done the PPC equivolent of locking themselves out of the house and we just happen to be inside already.

Ah, don't worry about it Mikeyj. She wasn't worth it. You can't do better than that. Plenty more fish in the sea, etc. etc. Wink Smile

How did the cube get here?

On the how did the cube get here front...

Either it's something tangible and whoever stole is able to send/bring things over, or it's something intangible...and was sent by a similar communications system to Sente's.

Remember that Scarlett and her sister were taken to see the cube by Sente at the museum.

So it looks like something physical, or there is something big and conceptual that we are missing (Madame Bianca a great big..."Ooh the Archer's getting warm" would be great for next week).

A way for this to work and for the cube to be less than substantial and for there and here to be related in a more complex way than being merely here and there (as in inside, or under-the-skin or something)...nope I've lost myself.

This would make the most sense, but what would an object like that be doing in a museum? Unless the museum contained a painting/cartoon drawing of the cube....*shrugs*

Perhaps they don't want their Cube, but the Cube in our parallel universe that hasn't been discovered. Wouldn't that be sneaky?

A brief spec: is it possible the cube was not actually "stolen", but its disappearance was an act of sabotage? Someone just pushed buttons until the cube went 'poof' and ran off? I ask this because more than the mystery of the cube getting over here there's the mystery of how the thieves got over here. One could always imagine confederates on Earth, but it seems like an unlikely alliance -- why would thieves send the cube somewhere they couldn't access?

This also reminds me of a situation from a particular Pratchett book (I won't specify which to avoid spoilers).

I would like to take the dubious honor of calling miss Kiteway "An insolent child whos mindless prattle was achieving nothing in the advance of the discovery of the cube." Or soemthing along those lines. I wish she'd be helpfull, wench.

[egosentric thought] When Sacrlett was talking about the mail I sent that called her an insolent girl she aked how I would talk to her father. Does that mean we can get in touch with Sente, I thought all attempts at that only got auto-response E-mails. Could someone with a better... uh...relationship with Miss Kiteway try to get in touch with Sente?[/egosentric thought]
