[SPEC] Perplex City skyline

Is it possible to convert the skyline over at Scarlett's site into a soundwave. Would that do anything?

And why is the top of Ascendancy Point attached to the skyline as a different gif? I assume it's because of page formatting, but is it necessary? If not, maybe there's something there.

I suspect the 'picture' is made that way for filesize reasons. If the top of the ascendancy point was part of the rest of the skyline image...you would have a lot of white on both sides with nothing there, which is a bit pointless.

Just for comparison, the combined filesize of both images separately, is 9.47KB, whereas if you combine the images the file size is nearly twice that (17KB). Also, while stitching the images together, i noticed that the top part has an alpha colour set to it...which allows for the blog text to jut below the ascendany point image but stay above the skyline...

something else, irrelevant to this top, but since it is a minor update, though I wouldn't create a new thread...The perplexcity page has been updated today which has two images at the bottom linking to Scarlett's Blog, and the PerplexCity Sentinel newspaper online...

Fair enough. The skyline did though, in a small way, remind me of the kind of spikes used in a representation of sound on a wavelength. I guess it may be too short and the tops too flat to be that, though. Mind you, I'm not much of a computer musician to tell.

I also tried to put it into binary, going left to right, seeing if I could write 1 when the next level was raised and 0 when it lowered. Didn't come up with anything relevant.

Another thing concerning the skyline is the current main picture on the Sentinel. Why no picture of the nature preserve? And if it's not there what's the skyline picture for? Presumably it's Northside but if it's a general Perplex City picture, why no Ascendancy Point? You wouldn't miss that out in the same way you'd never miss out the Eiffel Tower from Paris as an iconic image of the city in question. (I assume.)

Oh we listen all right, but for me that icon seems to be the only thing I can pay attention to. For all intents and purposes that should be the cube! It's most definitely metallic and it's mass is indeterminate and it exhibits some unique qulities to be sure! definitely keep away from small children!

I suppose it would be possible to convert the skyline to a soundwave but it would be a very basic tone since it's such a simple pattern. Definitely no speach, elaborate symphonies, or the latest bootleg crunk in there. The other problem would be timebase - is the duration 10 ms, 100ms, 1s or what? I think it's almost certainly just a skyline.

Oops, sorry. Seems like we really are going round in circles.

On the other hand, speccing wildly: if you count up all the prominent building tops on the skyline it adds up to 24. Well, it could. It just depends what you think counts as one building or two. I don't think it's clear-cut enough to be conclusive, personally.
