Violet - just out of interest what was the other site we are taken with, and which version were you comparing with..?
And, yes, how the hell did he get that particular email address if he doesn't know the blog... [OOG] Unless he just knows someone that plays/a PM [/OOG]
Version numbers... Ambigrams... Type Rplexci oh, i dont know, it does seem a little odd... Maybe we should prod the websites a little more - hell, if he does turn out to be OOG, he'll appreciate the traffic
Jeb
EDIT: and also, me and dead weight have been PMing - there is something a bit odd about his webcounters on bjgilbert.com - in 2 of the versions they're hardcoded numbers - 0053 and 1030... more crap to think about love it.

as i said, his website looks a lot like the Sentinel in its layout and font, and a bit like Scarlett's in that it's highlighted in red a lot. I didn't want to mention the website name in case he clammed up or got defensive about his own website design!
ooh, and I think Cambridge was mentioned in jeb's email, though only to say he could get there, not a big significance to anything so it might still be odd that it was mentioned in the reply

Also note how he says he is "aware of the existence of perplex city" - now that's in game if ever I've heard it

To be honest I don't think he can really be in game. It just doesn't fit that some guy from Cambridge with a fondness for ambigrams is directly related with our search for Perplexcity's Cube. Just thought I'd stick in my 2 cents before this guy starts getting loads of emails about Sente and the cube just because Scarlett featured a piece of his work.

i'm fluctuating between being convinced this dude's ig and being convinced he's not-
this stuff about counters and the wording of his email is very suspicipious- and the timing of his "choosing to launch" his ambigrams site is interesting-
but it's probably more likely that he's some geezer who's been around for ages, maybe knows a pm and made him an ambigram of perplex city because he happened to be setting up his ambigram site at the same time his mate was setting up/helping with pc..

Precious little difference to this particular website it must be said, but
there have been changes (significant ones) afoot elsewhere.
However dear reader (which is a somewhat presumptuous statement on my part to begin with) ,
I imagine you have survived without constant blogish updates of my every whim and whimsy, and I certainly don't intend to start filling you in with the tedious details now.
Suffice it to say that I have managed, rather implausibly, to parlay the putative skills demonstrated on this site into something a little more meaningful, namely becoming the lead technical web designer for a major UK online retailer. Now,
exactly how this happened remains a mystery to many.
A mystery roughly equivalent in its perplexity to the nature of my job, which precious few have ever really been able to fathom.
So. Yes. I get to do web design and worry about CSS and the like all day at work, so the incentive to read (let alone edit) this site (let alone any others) when I get home has been, shall we say, notable by its absence.
OK, so that's not exactly true, but almost.
Does that sound wierd to anybody else? Or is it just me?

nope, it's not just you!
he appears to have updated his website too, and the Perplexcity one's nowhere I can find it... (though i haven't had my Ceretin shot today, could be a factor!)

It is strange..but maybe this guy is trying to get some traffic by trying to sound perplex city-ish?

Just to clarify in case these DO mean something, it's 0059 and 1030. Hate for somebody to crunch the wrong numbers forever.
He's got some interesting stuff, OOG or not. Many of the links are dead (they're archived pages) but some aren't, worth looking around a bit - plus he's done a nice job with his sister's site.
Edit: The site of his new "Major UK online retailer" has a selection of the week for DVD's. This week's is a bit interesting...

you got my hopes up there- i thought the e-tailer was going to be firebox... for those who don't already know it's www.play.com. nothing similar about play.com and perplexcity
still it is a nice "coincincidence"... maybe pms recruited him to do the scarlett site?

At this point, it might be a better plan to try and get to the bottom of this by emailing Scarlett, rather than Brett.
