This sounds stupid, but maybe she's in a radio shack in hell, michigan? Dunno, this sounded kinda reasonable.

Laughing That doesn't sound stupid. I love it! It's the funniest thing I've read in a while! Are we getting desperate for a clue from these PM's or what??

Okay, I'm completely new to this, but thought I'd throw in my .02 regarding the TV idea...

What about one of those channels that does the local "all you can eat spaghetti dinner" type message things and has the weather scrolling on the bottom? You know, they're usually channel 2 or something. You can put a message on there for like $10 a week or something and they play it over and over again. It seems more accessible than the Howard Stern show or trying to explain it to someone.

Just a random thought.

Hrm.. well, are we still going with the whole Downingtown thing? Because I'm about an hour from Downingtown, and around here we still have those channels. Perhaps find out the cable provider there? I mean, if she has TV in her shack and she's in the area...

Like I said, I'm new and just trying to throw ideas out there. Somebody can tell me if I'm being completely unhelpful and should shut up.. Rolling Eyes

Who needs to pay for an ad?

For free publicity, all we need are a couple of Downingtown (or near Downingtown) residents to camp out in front of a local TV or radio station with placards and signs. On a slow news day, they're bound to pick up the story.

There's a list of TV and radio stations that air in Downington at this site.

Hey guys, These are all really good ideas, only one problem. The TV stations that service the Downingtown area are in Philadelphia. Channels 3,6,10 and Fox29 are the only stations with news reports and the Cable provider for the area is about 95% Comcast. There are some public access stations way up there on the dial if you have comcast cable, but as far as local stations, your talking Philadelphia-very big market. All four stations are located in Bala Cynwyd, just west of the city, near St. Joe's University. I know this because I live in Philly and Downingtown is only about 40 minutes from me.

Ok, lets just get some cliff notes on whats happening:

  • Gertrude lives in 'a shack in hell' with

    • A Radio
    • A TV

  • She Does NOT have

    • A Phone
    • An Address

  • We have had the following ideas on contacting her

    • A newspaper ad

      • Pros:

        • Cheap

      • Cons:

        • She has no Address

    • TV ad

      • Pros:

        • Gets to everyone
        • She has a TV!
        • Could just ring in to a show or make a local news caster notice you

      • Cons:

        • Its expensive
        • The main local broadcasters are big money people in phili
        • Some channels will print messages but they are on Comcast cable

    • Ham Radio

      • Pros:

        • If on the right shack frequency (?) it will get to her
        • She has a radio (what kind is unknown)

      • Cons:

        • Getting a ham set that will reach the shack
        • Seems difficult to achieve (but very immersive if its the case)

    • Radio ad

      • Pros:

        • Gets to everyone with a radio
        • She has a radio (what kind is unknown)
        • Cheap

      • Cons:

        • not sure if it is a normal radio or ham radio

    • Dissect the final message from martha more

      • 2nd and 3rd are repeated alot
      • She is obviously hinting there is more to this message than meets the eye
      • There is quite alot of repetition or emphisis within the letter:

        • plight
        • wildest dreams
        • understand
        • brought
        • upon myself
        • sharing
        • movie
        • side
        • die

      • I find this to be quite a key section:
        Quote:

Show her...and she will contact you. She will guide you. Tell her. Tell the world. Unholy is more than just a movie. www.unholymovie.com is more than just a movie. My life is more than just a movie.

Anything else to add?

On the site, she write

CING you watching me

why CING? and not seeing?

canatt--why not cannot?

Why are some things written backwards??

Ie. The Find Gertrude message?

I'm going through Martha's letter, doing every possible 2nd and 3rd things I can.. 2nd and 3rd letters in each sentence.. etc.

Anyone find anything so far?

This doesn't quite seem like it means what we think it does at first glance.

'They say I'm the first' Who are 'they?'. I ask this because of the follow up statements.

'Some of you will be the second'. Surely it should be singular- 'One of you will be the second'. This has already been pointed out.

'others the third...'. Again, 'one of you will be the third' would be better unless it has another point.

Maybe 'they' are not actually the enemies in question like earlier in the paragraph. I'm just thinking turn those statements on their head.
Maybe she is talking about herself being the first experiment and some of us are going to be pulled in on the next experiment. This could be backed up by the change to the bin on the site from e-mails to 'MISSING'.

...

This letter really needs to be dissected big time because there are alot of discrepencies that seem to be there on purpose. This letter holds far more information than we think.

I've been lurking here for a while but had nothing to really contribute. Probably will continue that streak now, but oh well.

Does this part of the letter sound like one of those old word puzzles to anyone else?
