Maybe it's just me, but the fans look rather large to fit in the supposedly smaller xbox 2

i'm horrible with photoshop, but it would be extremely helpful if somehow we could find a scale across the entire sheet of music, ie each little chit represents a space. my grandmother owned a player piano and i could figure out what the music was (if it is that) if i just somehow had a representation of the grid of possible holes across the entire piece. that way we'd have a representation of the distance between dots. it'd easy to figure out then.

jusging only on the appearance of the things inside, especially how nasty it looks, im thinking its an old system, maybe the vectrex atari or something, or a vcr, who the hell knows. i dont think its new. it has to have some age to it.

just looking at the picture as a whole, the board has a groove cut out of it to accomodate the fans. i'd wager that's not gonna be just a standard everyday desktop pc, but something a little more purpose-built

sorry, but no. lemme explain a bit better.

a player piano works like this: basically air is sucked through a hole in a piece of paper which corresponds with keys on the keyboard. so, we could get a general range by understanding how those notes are placed on the paper. ie, the hole on the extreme left side would be the lowest note on the keyboard, and the extreme right would be the highest note. this could be off a bit if the piece of music is in a key that doesn't play that high or low note, but that's an easier problem to solve.

i need to be able to tell how many keys (theoretical holes) are in between to figure out the actual notes. so, i need to know how many total holes there would be if you filled in the entire line with them. basically, if you could just repeat lines as they are all the way across the to of the image as it is on ourcolony, or the left as it is here that would make it much easier.

after that, it's simple to turn into music.

the way it is on ourcolony would be correct. it plays from top to bottom. if it is a scroll all the notes are the same length which would be weird. normally a scroll like that has holes the same distance across, but some that are much longer as a note is held.
