[SPEC] Humanclock.com - Connection to Our Colony?

There are several threads discussing the humanclock.com connection but not 1 thread with all the info and ideas so i'm starting one.

There are several suspect sites that are linking to ourcolony.net which appear to be hoax's or unconfirmed parts of the game. However we have 1 site that is linked directly from ourcolony.net so we need to fully go over that site with a fine tooth comb.

I have gone through lots of pics, but not going to sit for 24hrs to see them all, not sure how to cover that. A number of colony logo/clock pics have been uploaded in the past several days to humanclock.com

From the OurColony site:
Quote:
Our Colony is stronger now than ever.

and so we begin Truth. you thought it was tough before? just like in the real world, pretenders will be owned by real Colonies. real Colonies work to make us stronger, and work together to make us smarter.

me? i'm the gamem8ker. i've given you the gift of time already

This is the link - the gift of time, what is it? and what is special about human clock being the real world? Both of these sentances are pointing to humanclock.com. Is it as simple as pointing out the countdown to May12th, or another step in the game.

There are some interesting notes on the human clock site today:
Quote:
Clues, Clues, I have no clues. I have no clues as to why you ended up here. I would like to make up clues, such as you will find answers by listening to Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music album, but that would be downright mean, so I'm staying out of it.

Anyone know that album? He states that's not a clue, which means it needs to be looked into Very Happy

Also:
Quote:
This website doesn't have anything to do with a popular website going around right now. I am also not affiliated with the guys who wrote MITS 4k BASIC back in 1975 either. (do your homework kiddies)

The popular website is pretty obviously ourcolony.net

The guys that wrote MITS 4k BASIC are Paul Allen and Bill Gates, it was the founding of Microsoft.

So he is stating that he isn't part of the game, but if that is true, why does he have a game console with the colony logo on it on the front page. and why does he talk in riddles. Sounds like he doth protest too much.

From the EBAY thread by Geoffrey:
Quote:

He's put up a new message in relation to that Lightpen system, otherwise known as the Vectrex (http://www.tomheroes.com/Video%20Games%20FS/game%20ads/vectrex_system.htm) and its pretty cryptic. Why the ant on the lightpen Vectrex? I've seen humanclock over the years, and never noticed something like this. he also calls it the X-ertcev, Vectrex backwards, but set up like XBOX.

Honestly, to me, it looks like Microsoft is paying him to play in the game, as an odd sort of extra

I suggest that someone do what TXB did with humanclock, but use humancalender, and the date October 25 (see hivekeeper.blogspot.com).

Everything else on that site points to the fact that the guy is mean. Smile

That would be because he is snarky and sarcastic... Look at that console man... It's almost as old as I am. (Which is pretty old... for a console.) According to the news post the day that the picture you mention went up, the picture is his responce to emails from Colonists asking for more pictures of a Next Gen console. As I said before, sarcastic, snarky, and mean.

I'm not saying that I don't think there is something for us to find on the Human Clock website... But I do think that we're not going to get any clues directly from the guy who runs the site.

Nobody would think to email the people at Google and ask them for some sort of scoop. And yet we use google all the time to find information that helps us solve the puzzles.

yeah, like the clue that took us to the Angelina Jolie story, that wasn't a post put there by people in the game, but a set of clues that led us to something you could find reliably on the internet.
there may well be something for us to find there, but i doubt it'll be put there by the site owner intentionally

Metal Machine Music is an album by lou reed consisting entirely of 1 hour of random guitar distortion and feedback. There is barely any rhythm, no melody, and a lot of feedback from two guitars. I just went and looked info up on it, and there ya go. I might actually buy it now, just to hear it. Not that I expect much, but yeah.

anyone who has ever heard metal machine music gets that joke...

"Metal Machine Music seems a bit less startling today, now that bands like Sonic Youth and the Boredoms have created some sort of context for it, but it hasn't gotten any more user friendly with time — while Thurston Moore may go nuts on his guitar like this for three or four minutes at a stretch, Metal Machine Music goes on and on and on for over an hour, pausing only for side breaks with no rhythms, melodies, or formal structures to buffer the onslaught. If you're brave enough to listen to the whole thing, it's hard not to marvel at the scope of Reed's obsession; it's obvious he spent a lot of time on these layered sheets of noise, and enthusiasts of the violent guitar freakout may find it pleasing in short bursts. But confronting Metal Machine Music from front to back in one sitting is an experience that's both brutal and numbing. It's hard to say what Lou Reed had in mind when he made Metal Machine Music, and Reed has done little to clarify the issue over the years, though he summed it up quite pointedly in an interview in which he said, "Well, anyone who gets to side four is dumber than I am." For the record, I did get to side four. But I got paid for it. "

4/13/05 Update

Quote:

April 13th, 2005
This website has been around since 2001 in case you were wondering. It wasn't built last week.

Also, I still don't have any clues. All this talk of clues makes me think of my favorite member of the Go Go's who played a singing telegram girl in a movie once. Sweet Jane indeed.

From the site today - another indicator this isn't part of the game.

The move reference part is for the move "Clue" from 1985, based on the board game and pretty funny imho. Jane Wiedlin is the singer from the GoGo's that plays the part of the singing telegram girl.

humanclock.com

Did anybody catch what was posted under the current picture on humanclock.

CPE1704TKS was only on there for a day and then it was taken down. It looked out of place for the picture. Research found that it is from Wargames and was the code for starting the game or launching the missles. I'm still curious what the connection is to this web site. There has to be a point and I think that the fact that the guy keeps teasing about not having clues only proves his involvement.

I figured Id share my findings. This is what I posted elsewhere.

I have been talking back and forth with the guy from humanclock.com, Daniel Craig Giffen. He said that he isnt related to these guys, and they one day linked to him for apparently no reason. in addition, he said he wasnt excepting any of our colony pics, but obviously the one above was, so i dunno....
I took a bunch of little notes.

By the way, I have read everything on that website. Even the news back to like 2001. I read it for an hour. The MITS 4k Basic is from 1975. He recommends Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" - 1975 also... This guy rode around Australia on a bike - 12,500 miles 2 years ago. He has gone 4 years with no advertising. Didnt the xbox come out in 2001, 4 years ago? He sold some weird thing called the reality remapper with the pieces of cardboard sign. the cardboard sign in the pictures has a friendster account at cardboardSPLAThumanclock.com. He mentions Richard Buckner a lot. richardbuckner.com
"The difference between 24 years old and 31 years old is that I would spend an hour making an ethernet cable at 24, at age 31 I cant be bothered with it".
A lot of the pictures are weird. Weird stuff. The uploaded ones arent his, but cardboard signs ones are his for the most part. theres really weird ones.

other links are to ebay auctions he has had, expired.

Update

In the recent photo's section on the front page there are 5 Colony related pics from Chicago, which seems to be the hub fo the whole Our Colony scene. I would assume, they are user submitted, like the teamxbox one with the guy's kid, but you never know.

We also have some pretty interesting theorizing in this thread:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9808

Finally, the link from the trailhead to Humanclock.com has been removed, but there is a still a time reference.

you took Our Colony from Chaos to Truth.

and what has Truth brought you? just another day and another challenge, right? sometimes, the truth is a little harder to find. colonies are discovering the truth...is yours one 'em? i told you truth would be harder than chaos. hard to stay on top, hard to stay in the game, hard to see where Truth may lead.

me? i'm the gamem8ker. i'm here to help you turn Truth into Revelation. time is on our side. check the facts.

as always, play if you want to learn, learn if you want to win
