Does anyone know a way in which the different dates relate(Jan11-Feb10? Or the name of the sign, The Archer etc.? I don't know if we can take everything independantly, or that we are missing out something larger from linking the different futures.

Not to say that I don't disagree with what has been said before.

i mentioned before the difference between gregorian and julian calanders -- 11 days -- makes their star signs change bout same time as ours

I'm not so sure there aren't two things going on in this week's futures.

There are recurring themes - the first two could possibly go together:

Children's Lit:
The Spider - The Maze

Games:
The Half-filled Jug, The Dragon, and possibly The Waver (poker? the others are kid's games though)

Work harder:
The Apple-Thief and The Baby

Possibly nothing, just noticed that, including the obviously contradictory advice to go with the flow and play in The Half-filled Jug and the statement that all work and no play yield great rewards at the end of the day to The Apple-Thief. That's why I think there may be a dual theme here.

The Spider and The Maze stand out to me as possibly meaning there's something online now, especially the "Web's done...Get to the library and ask yourself what would Charlotte do?" This may mean there's a site available?

It's been a long time - what does Charlotte do after spinning her webs? Is there something specific she does while resting? Might be nothing, but I'm wondering if the part about getting to the library isn't just a reference to the story.

Also The Maze says "This babe's the one to give you a helping hand." Babe could be either a reference to Wilbur from Charlotte's Web (reaching, but Babe=pig=Wilbur) or could simply refer the The Maze as being the help. Was anything ever figured out for the maze on the postcard?

I think the last statement plays into the website theme too, and coupled with The Spider's future would imply it's done. The others, especially the south reference could be related to actually going somewhere, but then again could be meaning look "down" on a webpage too.

The Babe is in reference to the sign "The Baby"

Is or could be? I'm not arguing, just wondering if I've missed something...

I'm not sure if that's right, X- in past futures, when referring to other signs, she's always used a capital (Hand, Archer)... "this babe" could be scarlett- we did call her a "babe" in the first thread about her blog as I remember

Is, "babe" is the old english term for "baby".

Also, after spinning her web, Carlotte dies. Significant?

You do have a point there... anyone got an idea what sign Sente is? Perhaps we could ask Scarlett?

I was thinking she'd done more than just the one web, and wondered if she did anything significant after the previous ones. As it has been so long since I've read it you're probably right though, so sorry about the dead end. I wouldn't think dying would be a clue but of course it could be, just not sure how it'd get used yet if so. Thanks!

Mind you, that's after spinning her "greatest web" i.e. her egg sack... this may be a clue... not sure to what, but it may well mean something.

In looking at the Archer, a little story (involving the Hand?) seems to be developing from one update to the next:

Intelligence has driven you where you are. It is, however, not everything. You're becoming cold, and I fret that you'll freeze out your support system.

Getting awfully full of yourself, aren't you? Don't worry, I know a little Hand who's going to put you in your place.

Well, that smarted! Sometimes it is okay to bite that which smacks you.

Especially the last two seem to indicate that The Hand really did step in and teach The Archer a lesson.

Maybe it's nothing, but it seems odd/convenient.

There was an old theory about the signs referring to people on this board (I know, not allowed, just thought it might be worth a vague think again now...)

And there's always the possibility that "this babe" might be referring to herself - IE that there is a clue in this weeks futures?

was thinking that each Future might relate to a person in Perplex City, more than us. Maybe some sort of secret communique (?) between certain members.

Eg- "...newfound spirit of independence has opened many portals" might be a direct address to Sente, and The Spider's might address Scarlett. God knows about the other ones though.

Or maybe I'm just going loopy with - well, loopyness.

Nice. Add that to
Quote:
Get to the library...

and it makes for one heck of an interesting spec, if nothing else.
