Hey everyone...i'm new to this forum but I've been following this for a little while now. I work on 40th and 6th in new york, about a block from the library where the cards were found in Alice in Wonderland. I'm thinking about heading over there after work to check out Charlotte's Web.

daylight savings time has me a little off kilter. could someone authoritatively say what time 3:00pm GMT is in other parts of the world? It looks like it'll be 10:00 am Eatern US. But i hear England handles DST much differently than us, so i'm not sure.

it's currently 19.41 in Britain, which is currently operating on British Summer Time (BST). This is Greenwich Mean Time + 1 hour.

So I guess the big question is do we go by GMT or BST?

... and of course there's the question of if I should be sitting in front of my computer, TV, or radio at this time.... maybe I'll set up all three!

Very Happy

Doesn't the reference to recruiting large numbers of volunteers and the broadcast to a wide audience point towards an email though - everyone who put their name in the email box on perplexcity.com? And that the email is going to be sent out at 3pm? Maybe Perplex City has different time zones that it calls districts?

It's just the large audience part is disuading me from it being a meet or anything when, for starters, Friday is a work day - if they wanted a turn out they'd do it at a weekend surely (eg Abbey Road). But large numbers have entered their email into that box, and if it served no purpose than the original january email from Sente then surely it would have vanished in one of the sly updates to perplexcity? Maybe on friday at 3pm, amongst the email for increasing the size of breasts or manhoods there will be an email from Sente, saying

"Remember me, been a bit quiet over here because I can't get any work done cos I can't get near a computer for Scarlett and her, like, totally amazing blog. But I've kicked her off of t'internet for a few and had time to type this mail....Oh yeah, and by the way do you like how I've named my kids after colours? Wait until you meet my son Apple White..."

[edit: added lame colour related child joke]

Another interesting spec. Just to add more information, I came on board after the initial email, and have received absolutely nothing, even an auto-responder.

Yeah, aside from that email no-one has had anything from that box. Plus, I would guess that anyone who has emailed whichever department @ the sentinel, and good ol' smiley freckle-faced Scarlett has also been added to the list if they weren't there already.

It'll be an email that says "Oops, yeah, found it. Back of sofa. Also found 5 Lecks. Bonus! Sorry for any trouble."

As mad as that would make me, I'd have to laugh. (And ask to borrow 5 Lecks.)

This doesn't seem to have been discussed, except for AF's post, so:

If the information was leaked to PCS, it would mean that it shouldn't have been there in the first place, right? So it is possible that we'll get some kind of comunication from Sente before friday, right? Probably something to the e-mails "registered" on www.perplexcitiy.com.

But, as AF said, isn't Sente, or MC, the responsibles for thePCS version we read here on Earth? If they really wanted it secret to us (although I think the secrecy is related to perplexians) it wouldn't even appear on PCS site.

Anyways, I think some more info should come regardin this meeting.

(okay, so this wasn't exactly some useful post, sorry)

And if that was the mail, the headline from the next edition of the Sentinel would read:-

Quote:
Kiteway Couldn't Find Arse With Map claims Earthling

Sente Kiteway has the Perplex City equivalent of egg on his face today, as it turns out the cube wasn't missing at all, it was actually down the back of his sofa. In a bizarre twist of events that no-one saw coming the square-headed Academy leader was unavailable for comment, although one source did hear him mutter the word "Bugger".

It is thought that Kiteway found the cube when his ginger-haired daughter found his sofa "a little uncomfortable". Scarlett Kiteway, an aspiring journalist and someone who could feel a pea through several matresses, was quoted as saying "Imagine my surprise when I reached behind the cushion and found the Cube. It looked different to how we saw it in the museum because it had a lot of hair, and some unpleasant food crumbs, on it, but it was definitely the Cube. We also found five Lecks though, so it wasn't all bad. Oh and something that may or may not have once been a peanut. I'm not sure my dad planned on this happening really, he gets forgetful these days, and probably brought the Cube home one day to study it and then never noticed it slip behind the cushions."

The City Council has called for the Kiteways to apologise for this matter, and to tidy up more often.

It is thought that the death of Fran Mendling at around the same time as the Cube's mysterious disappearance is not related. It is likely, say crime scene investigators, that Mendling, 42, suffered traumatic injuries after tripping over a sofa which was left, annoyingly, wedged in a stairway. The Perplex City fire department released a statement saying "We do not advise leaving furniture in stairways, as it poses an obvious risk to personal safety, and in an emergency would seriously hamper any efforts by the public to escape."

It is thought that Mendling lost balance when trying to climb over the sofa, and one of his feet slipped between the cushions throwing him precariously from it's plushly upholstered surface causing him to fall down the stairs to land in, what the emergency medical team described as, "a bit of a mess".

The original cause of death, as reported in the Sentinel, was discovered to be a lie, to cover up the fact that he was stupid enough to try and climb over a sofa on a staircase in the first place.

The occurance of a sofa in both these incidents is unrelated.

I think that Sente has been devising a plan for opening a connection or something between our internet and PPC's internet. He'll then appear at the right time in the IRC chatroom or something. Just my guess.

Isn't the pig named Wilbur?

Wilbur is the pig in Charlotte's Web. Babe was an altogether different pig in a movie of the same name.

edit: Trout (trout's self -- too quick to respond before reading the rest of the thread)
