[PUZZLE] Binary in journal00360.doc {SD 2/journal/00360.doc} Has anybody else noticed the binary code in the MSWord properties 'comments' field of journal00360.doc on SD Card 2?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
0111011001101001011001110110010101101110011001010111001001100101
Additionally, and possibly [META], has anybody else noticed that the 'title'
fields of journal00358 and journal00359 are the title of journal00360 "Wednesday -- Washed Out" even though they are respectively the journal entries for Monday and Tuesday? journal00360's title field is blank, however. Puzzling.
I hope this info helps somebody, because I am at a loss. The binary does not seem to be the password to any of the existing locked files.

(edited to correct typo -- thanx!)
Edit: title clarification -- Rowan

Above binary has a typo. It should be
0111011001101001011001110110010101101110011001010111001001100101
which translates to "vigenere" and also isn't the password for anything.
I noticed it too, and it must mean something. But I can't figure out what since I don't think that its possible that 00360 is in cipher!

vigenere vigenere is a cypher that requires a keyword and a coded phrase.
The phrase would all be alpha that is translated against a 26x26 grid each row is the alphabet offset 1 space from the last row. To code the message, line the keyword (repeating) with the phrase underneath. The code then is found by using the row with the keyword letter and the column with the phrase letter. Find both the keyword and the coded phrase, it should be an easy crack.

FWIW
If you look at properties for journal00358.doc (the entry for Monday - Cold as Hell) the Title of the document in the Summary tab is "Subject: Wednesday - Washed Out"
So is washed out the key in question or the phrase or not of the above?

It might just mean they point to 00360 where the binary vigenere clue is hidden. BTW both 00358 and 00359 have the same title as the subject in 00360. 00360 has no title and neither does 00361.
If they ARE linked then washedout might be the keyword. But which phrase to decode?

None of the journal documents have titles when I look at the property summaries.

That property is in:
journal00358.doc (the entry for Monday - Cold as Hell) as you mentioned
-and-
journal00359.doc (the entry for Tuesday – A Clever Chess Player)
In the sightseeing files there were maps hidden in the header/footer in the center of the page, which had been "washed out" to appear as watermarks (watermark being the pw to the sightseeing.zip file, which contains the docs with the washed out images). Perhaps it was a clue to this?

Are you looking at the properties from your file browser (explorer), or are you looking at them in Word? They don't appear when looking at them as a file, only when you load them in Word, then look at File -> Properties

I beleive this is probably the correct explaination for the titles.
But how is vigenere tied in?
