Iris- Break in at Phyllis's

So the graffiti is a portal.

Quote:
Subject: A break in!

As I know you heard from Phyllis, we got the box open! I was so
shocked when
Phyllis lifted that wrapped stone out of the box. Everyone took a
chance to
hold it and then it landed in my palm and I immediately felt this
electric
tingling that started in the skin beneath the stone and moved
throughout my
whole body until I was shivering with cold. Whatever that stone is, it
is
important, though I could get no impressions from it. I am considering
whether I should hold it as I meditate, but Phyllis and I have decided
to hold
off until we learn more. I mean, why put myself in more danger than
necessary, right?

Phyllis felt that in honor of our amazingly brilliant discovery we all
needed
to go out to celebrate. She took us to this fabulous little French
bistro a
few towns over and we all glutted ourselves on food and wine. Mmmm.
The
memory of those pastries we had for dessert is enough to make me want
to go
back again tomorrow! (Though the cost would be enough to stop me!)

So, you say, what horrid thing must have happened now? I would ask you
how
you knew, except such is life for us at this time. As we drove around
the
corner toward Phyllis's house, I got the oddest sensation that we were
in
danger. I do not know why, but I knew someone had been (or still was)
in
Phyllis's house and that we needed to be careful. James and Chris got
out
first and approached the house. I saw James un-holster his gun as they
neared
the front door, but found it still locked. After a moment to make sure
the
back door was locked and none of the windows had been smashed, they
relaxed
and motioned for us to get out of the car and come inside with them.
While
the boys and I made sure no one was hiding in the house, Phyllis ran
off to
check on the box. Just as she yelled that the box was there and
intact, I
found it. I had walked into Mr. Willingham's study and turned on the
light.
James was behind me and he started to swear, calling for Phyllis and
Chris to
get there quickly. You see, right there in the center of the floor was
a
graffiti symbol, much like the one on the library. Your guess is as
good as
mine as to how it was made and who made it.

Oh, I hear the doorbell. That will be the police. Phyllis and I
decided that
it would be best to report the break in, in case something turns up
stolen.

Iris

Ps. I promise I will answer your email tomorrow. I wanted to make sure
you
knew about this and I don't have time to type out individual responses
with
the police here. Thanks for your patience and pray that tonight is
calm,
despite the graffiti and our unknown visitor.

But wasn't Phyllis's home one of the ones with the "Copycat" Symbols?

Someone please dig out the map, I know it is here in the clutter on my desk somewhere, but it is getting late and I need to get at least a couple of hiours sleep so I can stumble into work tomorrow.

In short yes. In long sorta. Copycapt sigil was painted on the Hollow Needle shop building, but then house and shop are interconnected, so I guess it depends on your pov. From a legal pov they are different constructions however. This allowed Phyllis to foil the overeager searchings of those Federal agents in her shop, thereby preventing them destroying who knows what.

couldn't find this posted here. Am I missing it in another thread??? It was posted by barbarbellany on CD...

I was so hoping the box would contain the wand instead of a little carved stone.
I confess I was feeling a bit deflated but it seems that even a humble little stone
can draw unwanted attentions. In Douglas' office, in the middle of the floor, is
a graffiti symbol just like the one on the Library!

Need I say that this upset me? Naturally, it did. After heated discussion and debate,
I insisted that we call the police. I now know the police on my "beat" by their
first names, Joe and Mike. They came fairly quickly and went through the house with
me. As far as I could tell nothing was gone or out of place. They could find no evidence
of forcible entry via any of the doors or windows. They inspected the graffiti and
promised us they would be passing by the house more regularly than usual on their
rounds last night. We even agreed on asignal light that would tell them we needed
their help. James and Chris decided to sleep in shifts with someone keeping watch
at the head of the stairs at all times. Otherwise I don't think any of us would have
gotten any sleep at all.

This morning, I sent an email to Colin Penrose asking him about the stone. Of course,
I haven't told him I have it but I have asked if he knows what the symbol on the
stone pictured on his site means and to what purpose it might be put. He recently
emailed me, basically wanting to know his legal status here and suggesting he might
be coming for a visit. To maintain my good will, he may divulge some of what he knows.

James took additional images of the stone and Sam put them up last night. You can
see them here http://www.aglauranj.org/antiquesstone.htmThat is James' hand holding
the stone in his room here at my house. Can you believe he put a tacky poster on
one of my walls?! (mock outrage) I don't mind, really,
it's a personal touch that makes him feel more at home here and that's good. He
has,
however, agreed to my suggestion that we frame it when we get the chance.

Fondly,
Phyllis

I'm sorry Barb, I thought Iris and Phyllis usually personalised their email to each recipient and I had just read this email at CD posted by Enaxor and I thought it was hers. I'm a dope.

Don't worry about it, I believe that was sent out as a general hurry up letter.

Sorry, I didn't post the new one here, I had appointments for my mom so I was in a rush. Thanks for posting it for me.
