weird!!!

the art looks...familiar

seriously, is that one fukked up company or what? i dont understand how they work at all and ive tried to read up on them as much as i could.

etoy is an art site from Zurich. They made a bunch of news a few years ago when eToy, the online toy retailer, sued to get their address. Funny thing was etoy had etoy.com for a few years before eToy wanted to use it.

Here's a link I found with a bit of the story http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,33338,00.html

I don't think it has anything to do with this.

I tried using the calender, since it was open to may, and looked for White Sox and May 12, 2003. They didn't play that day. Don't know if its already been said or is completely useless.

Thats because that is a 2004 calendar. Their 2004 schedule can be found here

but wrong again, they DID NOT PLAY ON MAY 12 2004, the game was postponed till the next day

Maybe that's the truth? Postponed? Cancelled? What "game" has been cancelled or postponed? Pulling at strings now. Razz

The wierd black and white square in the bottom right corner of the front page of etoys.com is a type of barcode. Similar ones are used here in Japan for cellphone applications. Take a pic of it with your phone and it will direct you to an information page or something. I don't know if you have the same in North America and Europe yet. Anyone know how to read it?

I don't think etoy.com is related, but I gave their 800 number a call. It's got a automated system with a large number of options. Very very strange stuff.

If you're into "New Media Art", that is art that uses computers and or the web, here are some links. When I was living in NYC I was pretty into the scene, there's a lot going on that's really cool.

http://www.rhizome.org/ - Requires membership, but has its finger on the pulse of new media, so to speak
http://www.eyebeam.org/ - a museum / school that focuses on new media
http://www.potatoland.com/ - website of Mark Napier a leading artist in the new media movement.
http://www.newmuseum.org/ - Museum in Soho that shows lots of new media installations.

I scrolled back through most of this forum and didn't see anybody on this track, and granted it's probably the wrong one anyway... Midway games is chicago-based, they've done the most successful MLB games on the XBOX. At christmas time (grinch figurine) they put out the Arcade Treasure series (in accordance with the retro-ness of the picture and including such games as Robotron). The handheld equivalents of that series (Pocket Arcade Classics) incorporate updated graphics from Obey Giant.

Sorry if any of this has been posted and debunked already. Midway HAS acquired 3 companines: Paradox, Surreal, and Inevitable, if they've done anything that might be relevant. Closes I could find was that in May 2004 (calender) Inevitable released The Suffering.

Also, has the bottle on the bottom of the picture with the blank note tied to it been discussed? Looks like one of the mini bottles of liquor, I just hadn't noticed it or seen any posts on it yet. Hope *something* there was helpful!
