PuppetMasters Guild

Hey there, just an idea from the bowels of my mind.

When I need puppetmasters for an ARG, it rele sucks to have to come here and sift through a bunch of people that don't fit what I need. Let's say that all the PMs decided to band together and help eachother out on ARG's. This could be a website, a yahoo group, or simply a mailing list. What I'm saying is, would't it be awesome if PMs could hae a place to talk to eachother about things, and request help if it was needed? Being a PM is a full-time job for some people. I think it would be good to have a "PuppetMasters Guild" for PMs in need of assistance and such. Also, possibly, PuppetMaster Guild-sponsored ARG's and such. Whatever, tell me what you think.

haaa...I may be a PM, but I'm no good when it comes to that stuff. If someone is willing to try it, I'm sure a lot of PMs would be enthusiastic about it. I'd join.

Funny, already thouight there was a PM recruitment website, a place dedicated specifically to the pm side of things. Got our whole team recruited there, in fact Smile

actually I think a big community would be great, just a big list of people willing to PM and then you can organize them by their skills, previous jobs, etc. etc.

If you need anything I'll be more than happy to help

Yes, we all know about Dead Drop, but somewhere that's just a bunch of puppet masters and a big place to recruit people, share ideas, puzzles, etc.

If it's closed to non-puppetmasters, who will you be recruiting? If it's open to non-puppetmasters, how would it be different from Deaddrop? What features and such are you looking for that DD doesn't currently offer? Perhaps suggesting them might help Bill out Smile

Well, what I suppose I'm trying to say is a community where Puppet Masters the main and only focus (I'm not trying to bash on DD, but I just don't see it as that)

An example: Anyone that's tried to get some PM's for a game knows that it's a pain to go through topics and look for people that match what you want, or even post a thread where you may get a little response, or enough but not the kind of people you want. Basicly a huge database of people, and their skills and a bit about them.

A big mailing list. I'm not sure what would be on here... but I'd sign up ^^;

And at this point I really don't know what I'm trying to say, I'm gonna go to bed now, bai.

OKay

Yeah this thread went to holy hell.

Whatever.

I'm just going to say now that if anyone wants to start the PuppetMaster's Guild, I'll help out.

PS: It COULD be an academy....hmmm....idea's....

Well, the way I have always seen it was that Deaddrop was the PM's joint, where we could hang out, chill, be groovy, and annoy the heck out of Bill. It's just that no one uses it to the extent that it could be used, so this would work out much better if we could get more people there to help out.

So rather than attempt to create something totally brand new, why not just use something that's already here? If there is something that could be improved about it, then let's talk about it, and I'm sure Bill could probably do something to help. But let's not waste the time by going to create something totally new when we already have a great resource here anyway.

I've been working on a building a directory of PM's with listed skills and availability but have just been too busy to implement it. All I really need to finish it is someone with time to build the forms in html with basic data validation.

People would be able to list themselves in the directory, state their proficiency in various aspects of Puppetmastering and list previous experience and then set a flag as to whether or not they are currently available.

I'd make it usable as a single blind system. If someone needs a PM, they can query for the skills they need and anyone who matches will get a notice. The person querying the system would not know who they are unless the recipient initiates contact.

If you want to help, PM me.

Imagine a PM-Academy...

*stares off into the night*

With large, impressive buildings...parks...fountains...statues with puzzles...

*mumbles*

...and classes like "Classical Riddles" and "Non-linear Storybuilding" and "Earning Revenue - 101"...

*wanders off while writing furiously on a notebook*
