This thread is here for idea's of who or what the Star people are, and other things related.

Here's a slightly revised version. The main difference is I now think the first line says "sent their gates distant and wide," suggesting that there was a network of gates around the solar system (galaxy?). Wild!


This was posted in another thread but thought it would help have them all in one place.

not have another." Where did I hear that before?

Anyway, speaking of Beth's music... as far as I know Chris only had the
one. Wasn't there some sort of message in the music too? Maybe
that's important.

I think this comes right before the latest one from Beth ("i name you liar") - and I think the giant and the angel of light are one and the same.

So here is my spec. I think there are two types of races - the "star people" and the people who live "between the stars". Possibly "angellasi", the angel of light,the giant and the "calm speaker" are different again - or maybe they are just the leaders of the star people.

The star people have some sort of gate (probably a transportation device), which as a peaceful gesture they decided to give the races between the stars access to. They consulted the Merzkeen (another race of star people?) who said they could "see sickness, death, madness ... and stave it off before it infects the stars". But they were wrong.

When the star people sent out their gates, many of the races between the stars used them to wage war (on either each other or on the star people?). The star people were shocked and angry about this. They managed to broker peace with all the other races - but not with the Merzkeen.

The Merzkeen tried to hide by destroying their own gate and home. But they couldn't escape. The star people caught up with them, and asked them why they couldn't see the war coming. They were ashamed "I see all, but I could not see that". As punishment they were scattered among the stars - to live with the races among the stars - in groups of not more than five. They were not allowed to speak of, or use their gifts.

So - having said all that, I think that it might be one of the small groups of the Merzkeen who have captured Jacob. I don't buy that humans are the Merzkeen - but I DO wonder if the characters living inside Beth's mind are.

I wonder if we will soon get another chapter from Charlie. The last one does end with "for a long time they spoke no more of their gifts". I want to know what happens when they DO speak of them again...

I'm sure I'm wrong in lots of ways - feel free to disagree!

 		I've been thinking about what Hanna said, having heard that before. But then I saw that someone had sent Hanna the robot message.

Both Beth's message and the robot's message contain the phrase "you have destroyed your home and will not have another," so might she just be connecting the two messages?

That might be true... Very Happy but doesn't that sound a bit like a greek myth? I don't know... it's been awhile sense I studied them in school.
If someone knows something similar to it in a (greek?) myth, that'd be cool. Wink.

 		I'm rather familiar with Greek mythology, but the only thing that to mind right away when I think of the phrase "you have destroyed your home and will not have another" is the biblical story of Adam and Eve being expelled from Eden....

 		So, based on Jacob's new transmission, it appears I got some things right and some things wrong - it is the Star People who have "captured" Jacob, but I still think that Charlie is a Merzkeen.

But it is not clear to me whether it is the Merzkeen or the Star People who are the "goodies". After all Charlie was helpful and gave us a clue to Chris's files and he describes the Star People as poison. I don't know who we should help when the time comes...

And we still don't know who NoMan is - I personally don't think he is the robot, but I wonder if he is something to do with Garith Yung, who once said he was able to contact Jacob - again Beth (or Charlie?) described him as "part of the sickness". Has anyone been in contact with Garith recently?

 		Interesting Debate Going On
I'm currently involved in another interesting game, so I've been away from this one for quite some time. However, I have spent the past half hour going over some of the old threads and this current one, trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

One question that has not been answered is the purpose for the experiments going on onboard the ship. My thoughts turn to the possibility that there is a war that is about to begin, and the experiements are being used to create those who will be doing the destroying.

As for why Jacob was "captured", well, I think he just stumbled on to something that he shouldn't have. Wrong place at the wrong time. The robot mentions that Jacob is there because he dreamed. I can only assume that that means that he got curious. I do think that because Simon was telling Jacob to stop and not go any further that Simon knew what was down there.

So there are a lot of people on board who know what is going on and what is about to happen. The conversation between the two miners gives some sort of insight into what they are expecting to happen. Once the Star People have been destroyed, they (the miners) have been promised some sort of control over the "land" that is acquired from the Star People.

Also, I don't think that the Merzkeen is a different race. I believe that it's a name that the Star People have given to whoever is in charge on the ship.

The murders onboard could be attributed to accidents. An experiment gone wrong. Keep in mind that when you create something that has the ability to destroy your enemy, it is vital to learn how to control it. I don't think that whoever is in charge of this operation has been able to do that quite yet. Or, maybe they have and Max simply outlived his usefullness on the project.

I don't think that Beth is one of the "Star People", however, she might be in contact with one of them... who we know as "Charlie". What could be seen as madness to some could actually be ESP. I wouldn't try contacting her though, because I think that the years of having this ability has made her go mad.

That's good, makes sense, but what side is Ohmega on? Or does Charlie=Ohmega? One of them is the robot, am I right?

Does anyone have any spec on where they came from or what they are?

 		Charlie and Ohmega
I think that they are two different people. Charlie seems to be more inside of Beth's head then anything else. It is possible, as I mentioned before, that Charlie is talking to Beth using ESP.

I think Ohmega is someone on board the station who is on the "inside" but doesn't want to end up dead so tries to remain secret.

While Ohmega is seems to be more of someone who is helping us, Charlie seems to just be bothering Beth.

Looks like you were right about "Merzkeen" = "Mars King". As far as Simon being it though... Dunno I don't know... I do think he is a "good guy" though. There are a few things he was up to (before he and Jacob went out together) that have not been explained...

 		Well, luckily we don't have to wait to long for the Merzkeen (Marsking) to reveal itself. Unfortunately, we do have to stop whatever it is planning on doing. Be vigilant!

 		Well, all hell has broken loose by the looks of Hanna's new post Shocked

Not quite sure what to make of it all - but it's STILL not clear who we are supposed to help. If we believe Charlie (who is a Merzkeen Smile ), then the we need to stop the gate from opening - but then Jacob will die, unless we can work out another way to get him out?

On the other hand, if we don't believe him, we may end up killing everyone on Earth and on Mars.

And, as ever, where does Ohmega fit into all this? I wonder if it is him that has been battered to a pulp and put into Hanna's care.

Gah - I don't know who to help!!

 		Not half as confused of who to follow as I am, I would tend towards keeping the gate closed, Looking at it objectively, we would only lose out on the travelling aspect which we would be able to work out eventually. The other option if they are warlords is just too much of a risk. I would plump with Beth and Charlie, but i'm sure the camps will be very divided! Confused
