Tim's taken over...

Uh oh. It's Tim! Shocked At least I think it is?

http://citizens.aresstation.com/?q=node/69

Not really sure if he is the Merzkeen, or not. But whatever he is, it's not good...

Oops had meant to create a new topic but hit wrong button, so then time to send out the emails if he hasnt already cut off communication. Im not in contact with the characters but i think now would be a good time for someone to see if they can get any response... Otherwise we are left with NoMan.

Just sent one to Hanna. If we can't communicate, I'm not sure how we will find out what's happening.

I haven't had an immediate autoresponse that says "sorry, communication with Ares Station has been suspended" or anything - so that's probably a good sign.

Crap! Now what do we do? I was leaning toward Charlie's point of view, and had a vague idea that we needed to convince David Severn to take a ship and destroy the asteroid/gate, hopefully rescuing Jacob in the process.

But that doesn't seem necessary at this point - I'm sure Tim and his storm troopers in gas masks can take care of the gate. Now I'm not sure what we can do.

Guess I'll email Hanna and some others and see if they have any more information on what exactly Tim's planning.

oh no! not again!!

Tim and his cronies seems mad enough to want to destroy the "filthy" earth Sad ... i also wonder about who Tim spoke to ... maybe he spoke with a merzkeen who warned him about the gate ... theres also the " agents of the disease"... could Charlie be one?

I know this might not be the best idea, but Tim was the one who stripped all the miners of their rights not that long ago. There has to be a considerable number of miners on board, If we could perhaps get them together we could stage a coup and regain control of the station. Just a thought.

Well, I just emailed Hanna, David, NoMan, and Mary asking if they had any more information. We'll see what happens.

I kinda like the idea of getting the miners to rebel, except that the fact that Cohen's shock troops are wearing gas masks makes me think it might be futile. All they'd have to do is release something nasty into the air (Sarin anyone?) and that would be the end of the miners.

Might not be a bad idea to see what the miners are feeling, though. Anyone in touch with a miner or two?

At least we know Hanna has a gas mask, for what it's worth.

Not really quite sure WHAT to do at the moment. I've just emailed Simon - you never know. I could try emailing Lisa - I've had replies from her before - I might even trie Dr Park. Surely even he will realise the recordings aren't a hoax anymore. But at this point we don't even know if our emails are getting through...

Any thoughts on why Tim listed the co-ordinates of the gate? (sector 9, x:23, y:18, z:324) I have a feeling that might be useful to us. Maybe it's pointing us to some way of connecting with Jacob?

I thought it slightly odd as well but the co-ordinates are useless for us (unless you know the origin point, which the people on board would). I would love a peek into Cohens files!! I know it would be risky but we could always try and use NoMan to contact the robot any help would be good, then once we have overpowered the station guards we can locate the cannon and turn it on the asteroid.

Well, Wandering_Angela has emailed NoMan. It won't hurt for others to try as well I suppose.

We'll have to be quick though - it's usually Sunday he manages to get in touch!

Yeah, I emailed NoMan, but I didn't give him any particular message for Jacob. So if you can think of anything we need to tell Jacob, please email him.

For the moment, I'm at a loss over what to do next.

Got a reply from Simon. It's rather interesting

Quote:
Dear Chump,

Manipulated? Stopped? AH-HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Do you know what I was on earth? A garbage man. A fucking garbage man. Sure, I
had flight training, but it was all the rage to get people like Severn into
their planes: freaks with metal arms can pilot so much better, oh yes.

Feh.

So I come up here and what do I do? I haul rocks around. I'm flying but
I'm still schlepping shit around so you people down on that puke-blue
rock can live up the good life while I toil away, day after day. I told Cohen,
right to his face. I'm sick of your shit on my hands!

Smart man, though. He promised me something better than what you could ever
offer me. All I had to do was take care of a little problem for him. Sure, I
got a little blood on my hands. Sorry, Max, but I never liked you anyway!
I've got to hand it to that bit o fluff reporter. I never could have
gotten away with all this if she hadn't made me look like a poor
misunderstood soul.

She actually had me pegged pretty good all along. How about that? How smart are
you all now?*

Now, heh, I'm going to be a king of mars, and you're all going to
die. Ol' Simon gets the last laugh. Hah.

Good luck stopping us from way down there.

Personally, I think Simon is deluding himself. Tim's not going to save anyone surely?

Still, at least we know who killed Max (at last...)

Wasn't it mentioned, way back near the beginning, that Ares Station doesn't produce enough food to feed itself yet? How does Cohen's side plan to survive without the regular food shipments from Earth?

good point, but i remember them saying that soon there would be real meat too! Maybe the crazed bio-engineered monkeys are for food? . . . so maybe the plastic knife with jagged edges wasnt weilded by crazed monkeys afterall
(was looking forward to mental space monkeys)

Well, I think we should figure out how to open the gate. Tim seems pretty adamant about how terrible the aliens are, which leads me to believe that they pose a threat to his plans.
